Hot Summer
So we here in Alaska are experiencing a "heat wave." We've had above normal temperatures for two or three weeks. We reached 90 degrees here in Anchorage on July 4th. That is crazy!! Needles to say we are all baking because they don't put air conditioning in the homes here unless it is a home that was built in the last few years. And mos of the homes don't have adequate windows. This year portable air conditioners, fans, kiddie pools and lawn sprinklers went super fast and have continued to be none existant. The last count, according to the news we have 123 active fires throughout Alaska which has burned over 500,000 acres. There are a couple of really bad ones north of us close to Fairbanks that have threatened residential areas. We are praying for rain that is not coming for at least another week. On Tuesday we had a scare where a homeless person set fire to brush here in Anchorage and the fire rose 50-60 ft in the air. It burned about 20-30 acres and threatened several residential areas. It was pretty scary. Although it wasn't close to my home it was still too close for comfort. We are all nervous as the whole state is a tinder box that could go up in flames if something happens. So we are all staying alert and hoping that rain moves our way soon and gives us some much-needed relief. The weatherman predicts that we have rain moving in but it's still about a week away.
On another note, I have hardly been on WA and have been neglecting my websites due to the fact that it has been so nice outside. I try to spend every minute that I can outside enjoying the sunshine while I can. I already start dreading the winter about this time because I know it is not far away.
Cross your fingers for us. People in Alaska are not used to this kind of heat and we certainly aren't prepared for it. You can bet your bottom dollar I will be ready for it next summer. I will have extra fans and a portable air conditioner in my bedroom.

The climate is going crazy at the moment, in France it was 113 ° F last week. But fortunately human beings have air conditioners, fans, but poor animals, bears or deer in Alaska or elsewhere don't have much to protect themselves from the heat except water to try to make it cool. This is a cruel summer for some species.

Oh, thinking of you all!! We are in Australia, and live in a bushfire prone area, so can understand a little of what you must be going through!! I had no idea you guys in Alaska would experience such a heatwave!!

This summer is abnormal here in Alaska. Next summer you might not need the fans at all.
