Is it better to add your image affiliate links from Amazon to your posts in Site Content or your WP back office?

Hi - if you are now starting to add Amazon links, do be aware of the many strict rules that they have. For example, you need to use their specific affiliate disclosure.

You need to say "As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases" and you have to add this in every post that has an Amazon link. Place it directly above the first link in the post.

Also, you cannot mention the price of a product, not even a ballpark figure. So, you can't say everything under $100 or prices range from $10 to $20 etc.

Good question. I’ve used both methods and either seemed okay.

Hey Mark,

You might find it best to add your image affiliate links to WordPress once you have published your post from SiteContent.

Do be sure to use your affiliate links below the fold so you will keep Google happy. I had an affiliate link just above the fold in my sidebar once and Google penalized that site. Once I moved it down and re-submitted for approval, Google was happy.

Hope you find this helpful.

Thanks Trish I have definitely seen that doing it in WP gives you more options.

Cheers,

Thanks for the hint about placing affiliate links below the fold, Trish.
I guess I missed that in the training!

Hey Richard,

This MAY not have been covered in the training (else I wouldn't have done what I did). After experiencing the lower rating for the site that happened to, I learn BIG TIME to not do that.

Whenever I receive any prompts from software OR Google Analytics, I highlight, copy and paste at least a main portion of the prompt and start reading up on the issue and how to solve it.

That's how I come to learn THAT lesson. LOL!

We humans learn our best lessons from our mistakes, and that's ONE of my lessons learned. :-)

I have talked about this here every opportunity I get so that others may be saved from making this mistake. My way of paying it forward for others sharing their lessons learned the hard way.

That's a MAJOR reason that I enjoy being on this platform. :-)
