As I understand it, if you have no sales in 6 months you lose the associate status with Amazon.
Does Amazon stick to this pretty strictly? Once kicked off, how easy is it to get back on?
For my niche of scuba diving equipment the other main affiliate partner is leisurepro. They will not accept me without more traffic.
If you just need a sale to maintain the relationship with Amazon, then I suppose I get a friend to purchase something. Is one sale enough?
Does anyone have any experience or guidance to give on this?
Thanks.

You can reapply as soon as you are taken off the affiliate list. As far as I am aware there are no restrictions to the number of times you can apply.

Hey Joe,
Seeing that you already received a response on the ability to reapply if your website did become disqualified, thought I would offer you some helpful insight on Amazon.
If your visitor clicks on one of you Amazon links for, let's say, snorkels... and then decides to not purchase that but while they are in Amazon they decide to purchase ANYTHING else, YOU get credit for that sale.
A tip I discovered only recently is that Amazon text links tend to convert better than any other of their links... PLUS, text links are now the only links that OneLink works on.
Hope you find this helpful.

I've heard of some people who had their first sale after 8 months of being an Amazon Affiliate and their account didn't get put on hold. I don't know whether they were just lucky or whether the number of clicks without any purchases plays a role as well.
But yes, to be on the safe side maybe ask a friend to make a purchase.
