Hi WA community,

How can I join a group in Facebook using my business page identity, not my regular Facebook page identity?

Thanks!
Frank

Why not just create your own FB business page?

I think if you know the group you want to join, you can search that group name right where the search icon is on your FB page.? Once you open that group, you will see an option to join. But like what Heidi said not sure if you can join using your business page. But give it a try.

Some groups are happy for you to join as a biz page, but many of the ones with very targeted niches which is where you want to be, will not.

Many groups will not let you join as a page, group owners want real people not businesses in their groups. I don't allow pages in my group.

Hi Heidi,

I know I still have a lot to learn about social media marketing but I am just starting level 4 training. I can understand why you won't let pages in your FB group. You don't want to get spammed with others simply trying to promote their page and generate traffic for their website.

What I have been doing is selecting very active groups that synch nicely with my website. I join with my FB business page but only post relevant and useful info in that group, which I feel will add value and simultaneously help me increase my traffic.

What would you say is the better way to approach this process? If I join these groups with my personal profile then how can I drive traffic to my website and still keep the information in my personal profile and business page separate?

Thanks,
Frank

Your personal profile will be far more accepted on FB and FB will show your posts to more people if you use your personal profile. It is a social media platform, they want people to use it as such.

FB created business pages for businesses so that you would buy ads to promote it, they limit your biz page reach for this very reason, otherwise you would have no need to buy their ads.

Using your profile to promote your biz can be done, you just need to be savvy about it.

You basically want to use your personal profile to build your personal brand. You need to post content that provides value to those who see it, and within groups as you are.

You can use your header, bio and featured image to drive people to your website by placing shortened links in there.

There is too much to write it all here but I have done training here in WA on how to set up your profile, what sort of friends to add, what sort of posts to write. Check out my profile and you will find it.

Hope that helps explain it a little but happy to answer any more questions you might have.

Thanks, Trish!
That's the way I have been approaching it and it seems to work intermittently and differently on the web and IOS app. I realize that some groups do not allow pages but the process seems a little "buggy".

And, not necessarily all-device friendly either, I would imagine Frank.
