I have a home page that shows up on my website and I can't get rid of it? I have looked at different solutions here on WA but no joy.
I then tried Google and YouTube but no

Not quite sure what you're trying to achieve but your landing page in Word Press is always a Posts page. So on the left side of your dashboard, look for Posts and thats the page you want to work with. There you can add a widget and it will show up on all your pages or you can add a plugin that will allow you to put them on whatever pages you want. Also, if you don't want that Post page to be your landing page, the Quick Edit it and make it a Static Page and then you will get an option for what page you want to be your landing page. Good Luck ;)

Thanks for the info, I understand a lot better now. I din't know that in WordPress the landing page was by default your posts page.
All sorted now and thanks again.
Cheers
Tony

Glad I could help ;)

hi tony - i take it you want to get to the 'no posts' page where the blog roll shows on the front page?
if you do then tick the post box
this will take you to the posts page first
hope it helps
phil

Hi Phil,
Thanks for the info, I will try.
What I am effectively trying to achieve is have one landing page that I can customize that has a sidebar (the theme I have says it has one and I've dragged a widget into it but cant see it anywhere or edit it either) where I can put recent posts, comments, categories etc.
What I seem to have at the moment is two, one I can edit which I named test so I could know which home was which but both show on the tabs at the top.
I've never used WordPress before and am used to drag and drop website builders. WordPress seems very long winded, but I guess it is just a case of getting used to it.
Thanks

Thanks Barry,

I sussed it out with the help of Phil's post below. It looks like I am stuck with the built in home page, I just don't have two separate ones now.

Hi All,

I'm not sure on a domain name? I whittled it down to two options with the following keyword phrase figures and unsure which one would be best? Maybe the figures d

I would say choose the domain name that is easiest to read and looking good to instantly make your niche clear. Hope it helps.

Thanks for the help :-)

I'm not so sure that the rankings of keywords has a great deal of SEO impact for domain names. Over the years, both Google and Bing have deemphasized the importance of having keywords in domain names.

From a SearchEngineLand 2014 article:

"Microsoft Bing’s Senior Product Manager, Duane Forrester, wrote last night at the Bing Webmaster Blog that it is only a myth that in today’s ranking algorithms that a keyword rich domain name will make enough of an impact on your rankings to give you a major boost above your competitors.

Duane said that maybe “10 years ago” there was some truth to that but today – that is not the case.

The domain and keywords in that “domain send less and less” ranking signals to the overall Bing ranking algorithm."

We need a bit more information than that - not sure if you pressed publish before you finished the post? (The numbers don't read well.)

Ah, yes, sorry it looked OK before I published it. Thanks for spotting it :-)

Re-done, for some reason it didn't post as it looked before?

Anyway I have found another potential domain name with the following figures, your input would be appreciated :-)

Avg Traffic QSR SEO
128 22 37 98

Thanks

That looks good :)

Hi all,

Would adding gold investing and prospecting together as one niche be too much? Should I separate them into different niches?

I think the two would work well together. What I would do is choose a website name that encompasses both aspects for someone wanting to prospect/invest in gold.

I would then begin with content that is more weighted towards the prospecting aspect than the investment, mainly because those who prospect mostly do so for future investment.

Then as you build out your content gradually change the focus to a more investment aspect. Both the prospecting and then the investment niches are perfect together.

Hi Robert,
Thanks for the input. I was thinking along those lines also.

I would think that the two would intertwine nicely together, but I don't have a lot of experience with prospecting. (I'm assuming you're referring to prospecting for gold).

Thanks for the input. Yes, gold prospecting and investing together.
