Those Shiny Objects!
Many of these highly overpriced programs advises we should keep away from any shiny object. Now, the question is, what is a shiny object? Well, I figured it out quick. I think a shiny object is anything that distracts you from reaching your goal.
Here at WA, anything that will distract you from doing lessons so that to concentrate on another project, is a shiny object. If I had not wasted time following these shiny objects, I guess I would be far by now, or would have completed this course.
The fact that I wanted to make quick monies following these programs that rely on paid traffic, I realized that was not my thing. I may have wasted much time watching and listening to those ninety minute webinars. I should have been doing the lessons on WA.
When I joined WA, I was very comfortable with my first subscription knowing it was a trial. As months passed, I got distracted again by these shiny objects that I almost forgot about WA until one morning, I got a notification from PayPal about a payment receipt from WA.
I said to myself that it was now time to cancel the subscription because I was not getting much progress. I decided to do some more lessons with the idea that I will be canceling in a few weeks time before the next payment is due.
My main problem was that I did not like to be introduced to new words. To be more specific, my head would spin when the word niche showed up. My fear of the word ended when I read a blog written by boomergp08. His explanations were very clear, and by the time I was studying the lesson I did not have any difficulties to understand.
This time I made up my mind not to cancel the subscription but to upgrade. I guess that was the best decisions I have made in a long time. Just by doing a few more lessons, I discovered that I had reached a mile stone by completing this lesson on niches and was moving on to another lesson.
I am now able to create a website, I have learned how to write a blog, put images and video on the websites, signed up for affiliate programs to monetize my website. I am very thankful for this. Hopefully, in the days to come I will learn more and be able to help someone while making along the way!

Thank you for your excellent blog post, I think many of us can relate to what you're saying, I certainly can! I agree with you, a bright shiny object is almost anything that causes a distraction to us moving forward, the Internet marketing niche has many of these bright shiny objects.
If you focus on the training and nothing else you will be successful, I learnt the hard way by buying into poor products and working blindly. Wealthy Affiliate shows you the correct way to make money online and to have a business that will last.

Thanks for this post. When I go to offer comment I see that everyone is trying to sign up to their program. And, sometimes I got distracted with their well written content. But now I am very clear that I need to finish what I started first. And then will think about doing other things. Your post helped me more to stick with my goal. Thank you for this.
