WHY & HOW to create GDPR compliant forms for your WordPress website

There's a lot of buzz out there regarding the whole GDPR topic.

What is GDPR?

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a 2016 regulation in EU law on data protection and privacy for all individuals within the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA).

In plain English: European Union’s GDPR law requires explicit user consent to store personal information, so users can have more personal control on their data stored on websites.

The law became effective on May 25th, 2018 ... and due to several reasons, lately has become a quite hot topic.

We've seen many valuable posts here at WA regarding this subject and no wonder, the usage of the GDPR Wordpress plugins has literally exploded.

But here's the thing ... Having GDPR compliant post a and pages isn't enough!

Why?

Because, in order to ensure a full GDPR compliance, you'll have to display the consent option everywhere!

Having the consent displayed on your posts and pages is OK, but let's face it, usually, those posts or pages won't handle any user data ...

A typical Wordpress site may collect user’s personal information in many different ways, but the most common practice is by adding (using) forms ...

In other words: if there is a place where you should really use a GDPR consent option, that's definitely a form ...

Still, many site owners are using some sort of GDPR plugin (solution) to display the consent option almost everywhere, but on forms.

This is why I've created a short tutorial where I will show you how to display the onsent option on your Wordpress forms.
