What to do when FTP is not an option? Install your own file manager within Wordpress!
No doubt, the good old FTP applications are real life savers ...
However, I've seen MANY questions and posts about annoying connection issues, FTP error messages, etc.
And I can tell you from the bottom of my heart, is not a positive experience ...
But of course, whenever you can, you should always use an FTP client ... Why? Because an FTP client is using secure SSH or SFTP protocols to securely transfer your files.
Still ...
When you don’t have access to FTP (or cPanel) or you don't have to worry about security issues at site, PC and connection level, a "native" FTP-like file manager could be the perfect solution to manage and edit files on your Wordpress website.
And is easier than you may think ...

I have not yet updated WP. In this instance, would you think that a full backup with a plugin is the best way to prepare for the new program?

Thank you Zed. I will be going through them later. Embarrassing question here. Yesterday when I was searching for my Google analytics, it seems I have either put their code in the wrong place or I have totally messed up. Please try to be as basic as you can, my brain is in default mode and using very little intelligence as a precaution to keep it from exploding.
