How to leverage the Wordpress widgets to improve your conversion rate

We are making constant efforts to make our websites more engaging and more user friendly.

And the truth is that we have a whole arsenal at our fingertips ... Pop-up solutions, third-party ads, email subscription forms, social sharing features, all kind of CTAs , etc, etc ...

This agressive "user stimulation" is almost mandatory nowadays ... It's a necessary evil.

But, we tend to forget a VERY important issue! IT SHOULDN'T BE A CONTINUOUS "STIMULUS"!

In plain English: displaying the very same pop-ups, call to actions, ads, subscription forms, etc to readers who already performed the given action, is not just annoying but is also "disrespect" ... And more importantly is a continuous waste of resources ...

It's something I like to call "desperate and annoying marketing". If I'm already your subscriber, I don't want to see the same subscription pop-up over and over again. More than that, if I am already your subscriber, I won't use that subscription form pinned into your sidebar, so I really don't understand why don't you use that space to offer a different feature or another piece of relevant information ...

The point:

you shouldn't tranform your sidebar, footer, etc into a boring widget-repository where everybody will see the very same features and information on daily basis ...
you shouldn't display call to actions for goals that have been already fulfilled
if you have different categories, sub-topics, target audiences, etc, you should "segment" and customize pretty much everything served to them

In other words: you need to find a solution to display your widgets dynamically, depending on the content of your page, the current status of your visitors, etc.

It may sound a bit scary, but it's easier than you think ... And I've decided to create a short tutorial to show you how easy is to show or hide widgets on specific Wordpress pages.
