How do I transfer my website from SiteRubix host to my own host and how to I manage the DNS of the domain name i purchased in WA??

Looks like you have some great answers here already Rasheed. Let us know if you have any trouble getting this done!

Hi there,

If I understand your question correctly, you want to move your website to a new hosting company. If that's the case, the following may help:

Re: Moving the website database and files:

The simplest way to move your site to a new hosting company is to do a complete site backup (database and files) using one of the backup plugins, download the backup file to your computer and then upload it to the public_html folder with your new hosting company.

With your new hosting provider you will need to create a new database and keep a note of the database name, database user and database password because you will need to enter these when you import your site database.

If the plugin you used to backup the site does not offer a 'Migrate', 'Restore' or 'Import' function you will need to install the site manually.

If this is the case, let me know and I'll set out the step-by-step process - it's straightforward.

Re: Your Domain:

If you already have your own domain you will have an account with the domain registrar (from whom you bought the domain), and you will be able to edit the name server details there.

You need to get the name server details for your new hosting company (which will be listed in your hosting control panel) and paste these new name server details into the name server fields in your domain registrar account - i.e. delete and replace the existing details.

This will cause anyone typing your domain to be directed to your new hosting company

The name server change usually takes about an hour, although they all tell you 24 - 48 hours.

It's a straightforward process, but let me know if you need me to set out the manual import process steps.

Cheers,

Martin.

if you want to move the contents of yuor siterubix site to your domain you will ideally host the domain here and use the move menu button.
this will allow your move to happen automatically and all of the redirects to take place - you will need to add this new property to yuor analytics
you don't get access to the dns at wa and if you are trying to verify the site then follow my training but only do this after the transfer
make sure you backup your siterubix site before you transfer it across.
good luck
phil
you can temporarily host your domain here to transfer the data and setup the redirects.
change the nameservers on your domian to point to the wa servers - you can always move them to any hosting you want - but you are already paying for hosting here.
you can find the details of the wa hosting under sitedomains at the bottom - once you have changed the nameservers then add the domain to your account here and you should see it appear at the bottom

hey hi Rasheed --- see that you just joined WA in July ...

what's happening? ... re: transfer? ...

anyway, siterubix is a sub-domain which you do not own as it belongs to WA -- we're technically guests on the platform and here's a post by Kyle regarding DNS ....

hope it all works out for you and all the best ... :)

Site rubix always remains the property of WA. only the paid Domaine can be transferred out , and you will need to get your new host to do this. Jim

why does the blog post format look different than what is entered into the Wordpress visual editor? The spacing at the start of the post is different than the spacing in the mi

Your back end and front end will look different. Everyone see the same WordPress editor, but your theme will make the front end look different.

As long as you don't try to align everything precisely, you'll be fine. Here's how I do it: At first it may seem weird that you would see something different on your site than on the front of the site, but it makes sense. That way your editor never changes, but you can change the theme later and not have to re-learn everything.

Plus, it means that developers don't have to create a new back-end experience for every theme they have.

Good afternoon my friend, yes it is all different, however you can work with it, it's not difficult after a while you'll get used to it, may prosperity be with you always.

Hi! Any suggestions on how I can 'get used to it' faster? Any tips or tricks I should be aware of??
