Progress Update: One Month Of Work At Wealthy Affiliate

For those interested in just what you can do in one month of blogging, I'm hoping to outline what I've done in that time.

I've been with Wealthy Affiliate for about a year now, and I hope to continue for several more. As you can read in my previous posts, I had a site that I was working on, and a business plan with it.

But due to traffic dropping, really low commission, and well, not really being interested in the niche any more, I've since stopped working on it, and put my efforts into another blogging venture.

Hence, the title of my work in the previous month (December 2018).

What Have I been Working On?

As some of you may have remembered, I also blogged about how I was interested in finding a partner to work with me. I would write the content, and they would do the social media posting.

Well, the good news is that I found two trustworthy partners that I (think I ) can rely on. The bad news is that I'll probably be doing some of the social media, since they don't seem to want to do it.

Those two partners are actually two of my siblings, so I hope they're trustworthy.

I had an interesting idea of making a site that helped people who kept getting scammed (which other people have done before), with the intent to get scammed for those people. We would go to the website, check it out, try any free programs/products, and then give a detailed report on what we could find.

I've always enjoyed replying to email scams, checking out sites to see if their legit, and checking testimonials to see if their faked, so the idea seemed quite enjoyable.

How did you get your siblings in on this?

I would email them periodically of different ideas I had, and while some of them were interested, none of the ideas ever clicked.

This time, however, I showed them how much we could hypothetically make in a year, and told them if they helped me, they would obviously get a cut in what we made (to be fair, this wasn't the only reason they decided to help me...)

Plus, since I'm their brother, they know that I'm not going decieve them outright (or if I do, they know where I live... *gulp*).

What are they doing?

My partners are currently in the works to see if they can turn my content into podcasts and Youtube video's, and generate some more traffic that way.

You see, Google search results are just one way to get traffic from. There are dozens of other ways as well.

It's always best to diversify your traffic source, so that you can have something to rely on when a certain traffic source changes it's algrithims (i.e Google search results).

So they'll be covering those things while I cover the content.

How Much Have I Done In 1 Month?

Here is where we get to the good stuff. So in december the idea was concieved. And I decided that I wanted about 20 articles on our site, by the beginning of January.

Did we reach that goal?

As you can see we have made over 23 articles, and another 4 pages (several of which are ones that you can't really count, since they're the PP and TOS).

I actually wrote about 13 of those articles in a weeks time, just before the week of Christmas. You can see from the screenshot below:

According to the graph above, it says that I wrote 7K of words in a 24-hour period.

How many words over all?

36K of words in Decmember was what Site Content said it was. Though the number is a little higher, since I wrote one or two articles in WordPress itself.

The cool part is that I actually only worked for about half the month to get these results. I didn't start writing until a quarter of the way in to Decmber, and I took the majority of Christmas week off from writing.

How did I get that much writing done in half the time?

I've been able to write 2-3 posts a day, which makes things a little easier/harder.

It's easier in that I have a high volume of content that I can post for an extenive period (if I post 1 post per day).

It's harder in that, I'm currently working anywhere from 7-12 hours per day on my website. But if that's what it takes to make a business succeed, then that's what I'm willing to do.

Future Plans For The Following Month

Because our site is still relatively young, I haven't had much traffic, nor any money come in. So a lot of my goals for the next month is really just about getting more traffic to our site.

By the end of January I hope to have:

  • A Facebook Page about our business
  • A Pinterest account about our business
  • A podcast going with several episodes
  • A Youtube channel that has several videos/subscribers
  • Rebrand my WA account to something more relevent.
  • 70+ articles on our website.

Since social media isn't exactly my thing, I can only give broad goals for those things. Content-wise, and article writing, I can give good goals for though.

At some point I'm hoping to rebrand this account from SleeperF to something more meaningful (something that relates to my target audience) so that I don't come out looking as a scam, haha...

I'm hoping to write 50 articles by the end of January, which would put the article count up to 70 something.

Why that many articles?

Think about it for a moment. The more articles you have, the more traffic you can have. The more traffic you have, the more potential earnings you have.

Now granted, there's a lot in between all that stuff that needs attention (like actually getting traffic to your site, converting the traffic to sales, etc). But that will come about only if you have content on your site.

And so that's why I'm hoping to get that many articles out this month. I don't think it's that too big of a goal either.

That's only 2 posts a day for 6 days a week. And if I write 3 a day, I'll hit the goal that much sooner.

Writing 3 articles a day isn't too much or too little. In my mind, it just is. Some people write less, and some write more.

The key thing is that you make sure that you can keep your content relevent, and that they are still quality articles. If you can't put out quality articles, then quanity isn't really going to help you any.

Anyways, hope all have the best success in the year 2019, and will see this year as a learning year and an earning year!

Sounds like you’ve got a great plan Andy!
I’m not as prolific a writer as many here so I know my success will come a bit slower, but that’s my plan and I’m not giving up.
