Ha...Ha....@rich there to rescue

I knew he be along on his white horse to the rescue (Rich) lol

Rich to the rescue! Do you know how to create a PDF?

You'll find that most software packages will let you do this as a Save As from the File menu, it'll be one of the file format options. If not, you can also usually Print and select the printer as PDF. :) Rich.

You can simply upload a PDF to the Media tab in WordPress and then insert it as you would an image, it will be "downloadable" that way. :) Rich.

@RICH, I have wondered this myself. I have been considering adding an email program (aweber) to get a mailing list going and using an ebook as an incentive to sign up. If so, what url would we use? Would the file have to be posted somewhere for it to work?

If you sign up to AWeber, they have full tutorials on incorporating specific landing pages where an item can be made available for download after email sign up. :) Rich.

sorry, some one will give you the answer soon im sure. good luck with your book.

So there are a few different ways to put links in your writing. We have learned here about natural links where you just highlight a word that is relevant to what you are talking

I converted to a CTA button approach a while ago. The message in the button itself can be varied and so helps the reader, whereas the natural approach in my humble opinion does not. I had actually not come across the natural approach until I started here and always have felt it does not have enough strength, in order to help the reader go forward.
Hudson.

Yeah, I ran across ad words before where they link a word to a product. I found it so annoying at times and a real turn off.

I teach computer lessons to some senior citizens and they don't understand the natural links. They like to be shown the "click here" kind. I also notice that with my Ezine articles a call to action works really well.

I think we take it for granted that a lot of people understand the natural links when in reality a lot of things are underlined or highlighted and do all sorts of stuff! Even a definition will pop up of the word. As for me, I like the call to action links.

I don't get as many clicks with natural links as I do the call to action.

Thanks for the post.

I like the take, It really depends on your age demographic, just like any other form of advertising, it depends on the particular generation you're targeting... thank you

That is something I did not think of, different age groups. Thank you for this perspective!

This is good because in the beginning you cannot figure out when you should use one or the other, and there's a lot of interpretations all over the web about links-are they good or bad, you know that it may only be a matter of opinion.

Thank you of course. And that is why I asked, because even here there is a teaching of both.

A good discussion about links thanks. My take is that when a person knows where the link goes or what will happen when they click the link increases the chance they will click through. Trust is the key, remove the barrier of being surprised when a person clicks through. I like Paul Dean's example with Coffee and Cream.
Another challenge is to make the clicking action unconscious, that is make it a natural process because the reader is compelled by curiosity - the "I want to know more" reflex action. By putting the words "click here" you interrupt the unconscious process because the reader has to think about the action "click". Using words that imply action work better, like 'go here' or 'find out more' or the examples used by Paul.

There you go. Now you are blending the 2. "Call to action" by the action words you use, but no "click here." That's good.

Natural links far better all the time

Darn you MikeyB!

What seems to grip me the most, and those I have asked the last few minutes is call-to-action line with the keyword of the sentence highlighted in a link...
seems to be the most trusting of the options to me anyway, as I progress into the content writing for my webstie, I have seen good results this way...

Cool thanks! I like it!

I'm not an expert on this matter, but I believe "natural" links are appropriate for articles you may be writing for article services, and "go to" links are more appropriate for use at your websites.

Yeah, that is what I thought when I first posted this question.

I agree with Paul because of the professionalism issue.

I have used a couple where I just highlighted the word but it looks a bit scrappy to me unless the word in question is the actual item or product.

Yeah, right on, and that is why I think some "Call to action" ones would be appropriate.

Like for example, you are talking about, oh I'll do horses and not money. I am talking about saddling the horse, at the end I might want to add, "Want to learn about proper mounting and dismounting? Click here." Or something along those lines as a "call to action" to guide them to the next page type of thing.

Reply to skyhorse again: It might be tidier to write something like, "Saddling the horse is one thing, but do you know the best way of mounting and dismounting?". Link the words "mounting and dismounting" and everyone would click it. Honest... much neater.

That's a good way. That gives me some of the ideas I need.

I much prefer knowing where I am going, however, I have been taught that most people enjoy being led or told what to do. I think a combination probably would work best, but seems the high pressure sales people are the ones who succeed.

Yeah, and that is what I was thinking. It takes the guess work out of it and lets them know exactly what they are going to get. However Paul Deans comment does that as well, there are sometimes where it doesn't call for it. It calls for you to say, this is where you are need to click and this is where you are going.

Answering skyhorse - The trick is in writing in a way which will make it crystal clear: For example, I might write, "XXX is a fantastic place to find out all you need, and so is their sister site Coffee and Cream". Now whether you link the words "sister site" or the site name "Coffee and Cream" the action required of the reader is obvious and so is the destination. Much tidier with no unsightly web address in either case.

That definitely I like. However I would myself consider that one more of the call to action type just in a very classy way. That is just what I need to figure out how to do with my site.

Most of the time I favour natural links, so "please use our contact form" would see the words "contact form" as a link. Similarly, "Why not get a free, no obligation quote?" would see "free, no obligation quote" as a link. In my view it's tidier and more professional. You can still tell people what they're getting without cluttering the page up with obvious coding. Particularly true when using an affiliate link of course.

Ok, that is a good take. I will keep that in mind. Thank you.

What do you think it takes? What are your thoughts on success here at WA and in the IM world? What is even success for you?

Big picture? - Determination, persistence, respect, and fortitude with genuine care for others in our huge adventure called life.

Success in the WA? - Communication and making a difference.

My success? - I set the bar high and where ever I share and help, little bits at a time are a progression to the bar. My success is different - because we are different.

I believe:
Success and respect without judgment is valuable and essential to find mutual benefit. Success and failure follow the same path.
Success requires encouragement daily, just as necessary as a bath.
Success is a process with planned and unplanned steps of action.
Success is reached when you are happy.

In the IM world? Success is determined by what you can provide to help others in their search for life improvements.

Success is an infinite quantum reality.^_~

I really like that!

To me a person is successful when they reach their goal or accomplish their mission. I think it is almost impossible to achieve success without the support of at least one person, ideally a person who has already succeeded in the area you are trying to succeed in. I'll consider myself successful when I can financially support my home and family. As I see progress I will consider myself in the process of becoming successful, but to me it's not a success until its complete.

Yep, the over all thing is a success once it is complete. But don't overlook and forget all the "little successes" you will have along the way that is the journey.

As for me success is not only winning ....it is fighting back....I might not be successful in everything I do .......I tried my best and move forward few steps towards my goal, then I consider myself successful. I am a failure if I give-up at the very sight of an obstacles .....cheers.

Yep, success is never giving up. Moving forward no matter how small is definitely being successful!! Good job!

For me, "Success Comes To Those Who Take Action." I have only been here a little over four weeks, but Thanks to the easy to follow Lessons, reading other peoples blogs
and the great feed back I get from the WA community...I have learned more in these four weeks then I did in the last four years working at other online programs. I have taken 'Action' everyday since joining and I have a website, have learned about DNS and WA Hosting, so much I just do not have the time to list.
So; to shyhorse and all the Wealthy Affiliate community..."THANK YOU" for helping me to succeed.
LIAM

You're welcome! Taking action is really a key part, but lots of people over look it, or just want to ignore it all together. You are going to be doing something every day, might as well be building your future now.

But not everyone wants freedom. Some people want to be told what to do, and that is ok for them, but us here at WA want more!

Speaking from a standpoint of someone who succeed as a result of what I have learned with WA I have a few suggestions.

#1: Give yourself a break. You will always fear failure which is ok, but we have a tendency to think other people are smarter then ourselves. Those people over there huddling in the corner making money must be way smarter than me. It's not true. Most of the people I have ever met that are successful are total shit bricks.

#2: Don't expect things to just happen. It doesn't. Sit on your ass and you will be sitting on your ass broke for a long time.

#3: Don't buy into the other garbage that is out there. The community here is way more intelligent than any crappy product you could ever buy. If you buy into this stuff it will only set you back.

And beyond that the opp continues to build steam as more people are hanging out on those smartphoney things lol. More people online is more money in my pocket, whatever device they want to use to surf to my stuff.

I like it. Very good points, all of them!

Although I will say, working on a computer on the internet, I do sit on my butt while I do that one, lol.

And #1 is what I use to think in the past. They must be smarter then me, although most of them were with EN and come to find out, not so much smarter.

I was talking to my mom about a question I had. With all the posts from people in EN, I was seeing a bunch of African American people. Now it doesn't matter what color you are to me, but I just asked. I wonder why I see so many more blacks then whites making a living online, when I look into EN that is. She responded with, "How do you know they are making a living?"

And that is a good question, how do I know? Really I don't. I am just buying into the image they are presenting to all of us online. The story they have told us. But it is easy to really stage a pic. Just because you seem them getting out of a brand new 2013 Chevy Camaro and they say, "This is my baby" doesn't mean they actually own it.

And that is what makes people more skeptical today then ever before.

Thanks for chiming in!!!

So I have a website about financial education. I want to teach people about to better think and understand about money.

Some of my content includes:

The difference b

I'd check with my CPA and/or corporate attorney. I know bankruptcy filers are required a class taken online to qualify. Bankruptcy attorneys are a resource for this I presume.

Many Business Plan applications also have information and links. SBA (small business association) or sba.gov has information for sbo's (small business owner's) like you and me to apply for grants and loans as start up funds.

Have you searched for each of your content how to's? Create how to questions for all your content ideas and google search. Google has books and scholar in the pull down from more. Twitter has a search engine for business, and check LinkedIn as a member and search by business types.

Check the White Paper Library (networkworld.com/resourcelibrary).
Hope this helps. ^_~

You may give some tips on:

1) Usage of "financial apps" such as quicken http://quicken.intuit.com/

2) http://www.creativewealthintl.org/aboutus.php .This website provides education on financial management, comes with affiliate (I just found it, so better research on it to check whether it's legitimate)

3) Having your own financial strategy and time management newsletter and videos, Suggesting the current hot topic in specific business niche to focus on, year-wise trend with some graph and statistics (if possible).

4) I searched for products to review in finance, ended up for reviewing different types of piggy bank :p (Sorry bro I didn't find any), If interested in book review you can type in "financial" in kindle section of amazon, you get loads of books.
hope it helps.

I like the newsletter, still trying to figure out how the plugin works for that one on word press. I'll look into the rest, thank you some good ideas.

Hi there Skyhorse, this is a breakaway, but I know you can do anything. It's all leading to selling something, but where are the Sales Pages? I just got one this morning from Dr. Robert Anthon and printed it off for a real study. It was 12 pages long. Yet I have seen them with only one page (I like those best.)

I do need to change it approach and make it better I believe. The only selling on my website is with amazon and so that is where I have a list of books. They can also sign up for WA but that isn't the man goal of my site to promote this place, it is to give people different ways to think of money.

Let's see: all money begins in the mind. Have you written anything mind-oriented. Have you read any of my street articles? Just another source; you'd use the approach and marry it to your approach. I don't know if it would work for you. or you could take a political approach or do an article on the thousands of Mexicans streaming into the US now .and the money streaming out to set them up in hotels. Or you could connect with the Law of Attraction or Einstein's concept that nothing happens until there is action. Try to find his quote. Good Luck

Some really good ideas there, thank you so much!

Go to you tube and type in the search engine for what you might think you want to see or viewing and research it. I hope this is what you are looking for. Good luck

Good idea!

Why don't you make videos based on the topic you already listed? you're going to have to be comfortable talking in front of a camera, and one tip I learned from an acting class I went to is to actually make sure your eyes are at the level of the camera lens so it gives the impression that you are really talking to the audience.

I have thought of that, but would you really want to just watch of video of me talking about different types of income? I don't have any software or anything to really make it fancy, so all it would be is me talking in front of the camera. It could be a little different I guess then what I have written, what do you think?

If you have a "natural" talent to be in front of camera then go for it, I think people will relate to you more that way and if they like you then they will follow you. There is also another way to make a video on your PC if you have the software, I'm sure you've seen Youtube videos where they show the speaker's desktop and what they do, it's as if you were looking from the back of their shoulder. Maybe you can prepare a power point slides presentation and record it using a video software? I've one software I use which is free for home use, I can't remember what it's called. I'll let you know when I have access to my laptop, I'm at work now.

Yeah, I have always wondered how they will do that. And I will give it a try, I want to experiment and see what works. Thank you!!!

The video software I use is "debut video capture software". I've actually used it to capture screenshots for images on my website. I've tested the video capture feature to produce very short clips of me doing stuff on my laptop but have not investigated further about video size vs quality etc.

Maybe talk with a reputable CPA, or Certified Public Accountant. I can't give legal advice here, but they would!

Yeah, but what are some ideas if you have any of videos I might add, so that I can add content in a different form on my site?

You talk about money and paying no taxes. I am curious would you like top help people save for their retirement? If so you might want to consider IUL's as a product., You would have to have an insurance license to profit from the sale but you could potentially help your visitors and gain some credibility. Not exactly sure what your site is about and I could be way off the mark here.

That could be something, I'll look into it!

I agree, it's difficult to come up with any ideas without knowing exactly what the site is about but at the top you mentioned "financial education" so it seems to me the products you should be looking at are things such as savings accounts, where you could monetize the site by getting a commission from people opening such an account via your affiliate link.

Also how about tax advisors perhaps?

Or discount clubs? I don't know which are the well known ones in the US but for example moneysavingdiscounts.net offers various discount and voucher codes, and these sort of sites usually have affiliate schemes, if that's the sort of thing you are looking for.

Money is a vast subject with an almost endless stream of making money from affiliate schemes so there should be plenty to go at.
