Mac and Me.

Back in 1998, I purchased my first Mac. A really nice Blueberry. That was the start of a wonderful relationship. You see, I did, try it once with a PC, but, Dos kept getting in the way. All my family and friends kept telling me that I was making a big mistake, it would be a one time fling, and would never work out.

Well, it's been 16 years now, that Mac and Me have been together. Along the way we've added an E-mac, a Mac Mini, a macbook, and three MacBook Pros, all with different operating systems and all still being used, like the MacBook Pro I'm using right now.

My family and friends ? Well, they were not so lucky, some of them still have Vista nightmares, but, most have their own Mac now and are doing fine.

That all brings me to one of the reasons for this posting.

When I built my first couple of websites starting back in 2002, I did it through a go daddy WYSIWYG site builder. They were promotion sites where I could send event promoters to view my products and services, so, it did not need SEO. A few years ago, when we set up our store website, I discovered Word Press. At the time, the instructions to use on a Mac were to install XMAPP, and I needed to know about php, and mysql. Needless to say, I started having flashbacks to my experience with a PC. So, I purchased a web building program for Macs called Rapid Weaver and I have my own hosting. It has all worked out just great.

And now the second reason for the post

While the tutorials and classrooms have given me a better feel for online marketing, and I get to apply them in my websites, I am still not familiar with word press and that's OK. But, you see, every day I get an email from WA, saying why don't you pay it forward and help some of these people by answering their questions. Yep, you guessed it, the ones I get are primarily Word Press Questions. You want some encouragement, I'm there. You want to know something about Affiliate Marketing, I'm there, You want to know something about NASCAR I'm really there. But not Word Press. Sorry !

I am really impressed with this Wealthy Affiliate Community. You people are Awesome in the way you have responded to me, and how I've seen you reply to others.

Thank You.

enjoyed your post, and no matter how little you think you can help does not matter for there is always something here to help someone... thanks for sharing

Great stuff!

Great idea and I love being able to add to favorites here at Wealthy Affiliate. Thanks Carson, this is a winner............Frank

I'm coming also from the Mac world. But in Internet marketing, beside of a certain more aesthetical approach, Mac or non-Mac will not change anything. Patience and a lot of learning and working makes the difference.

That's true. When the paypal dinger rings it does not know whether it's going to a Mac or PC.

I'm from the DOS world. Boy did I just date myself big time! I've hated windows from the start, but I keep with it because of compatibility across people groups. I miss Word Perfect, I could really do anything I needed to.

I keep hearing the praises of Mac here and would like to do that way (when I hit the lottery). I wouldn't be stuck on my own like I would have been a few years ago when I chose PC. My nephew is advising me to go linux which wouldn't be so bad because I do know unix.

I guess I'll just stay with what I know, even tho I spend so much time "fixing" things that shouldn't be broken in the first place.

I spent all day trying to configure Outlook for my mail. Guess what, they moved all the screens with that upgrade and the online help is anything but help. Just as I was going to post a call for help, someone else did and we have come to the conclusion that it won't work with WA mail on our domains, so back to checking 15 different emails. I can't win.

So, what Mac would to suggest for me with my background in DOS, Unix, HP MPE/XL systems and a love/hate relationship with PC? Then I can go to office max and find out how much money I will need.

Answer carefully, because I will be running directly to you for help if I buy one. Fair?

At least I can say with all honesty that the training here is the bomb! At least it makes sense, unlike everyone else's. Like microsoft.

Rank over, thanks.

Brenda

Hi Brenda. I did not write this post to promote Macs. The Mac was just easier for me to grasp and use when I traveled. I appreciate your reply and if there ever comes a time you really do consider a Mac, let me know, and I will give you my 2 Cents worth.

@ Brenda Talk quietly, I don't want people to know I worked in DOS and loved WordPerfect, before MSWord took over! There are times I see WP and instead of WordPress I think WordPerfect, have to correct myself! See ya at the "I remember DOS" convention!

I didn't get the feeling it was a sales pitch. There are others here that do sorta sale Macs. I'm just trying to say in the past, everyone I knew was "PC/death to Mac". Then about a year ago, every started thinking about going to Mac. So far no one has YET, maybe they're waiting for me to take the plunge first. Who knows. The main thing that has held me back is I would be on my own. Then I find WA and I have a whole bunch of people that have Macs.

I upgraded to a smart phone. She gave me the option of a "starter' smartphone. What? Training wheels? Wish I had done that because it had number to push. Same situation here, I guess I asking what is a "starter" Mac?

Don't mind me, I've been fighting windows all day. I'm tired and getting really nutty.

When was that date again? I think I might have lost it in the move!HAHA

How you been? I've seen you posting, but I haven't really had time during the move to spend a lot of time here. One old lady to another, we'll talk soon I'm sure. Esp in the pinterest training you're starting.

This is what is so great about WA. Every one of us is knowledgeable in different areas of the program, as well as the tech stuff. That's what team work is all about.

Gordi, I think you are sooooo right. Thank you.

Wealthy affiliate is awesome. But I have to disagree with you on macs. PC rocks. I find mac unnecesarrily complex. PC is more simp;e straight foward.

Well, at least we agree on something, and I guess we can agree to disagree on others. I appreciate your reply.

I'm happy to know you love your Mac. Mac and I never got along very well, but I am sure it was because I had not one friend that was a Mac person. Wish I had. One day I may try and reacquaint myself with him though!

You see. For a long time I did not have a friend that was a Mac person. I appreciate the support I have received from you very much.
