Google Indexing
So, how long after a site is launched does it usually take for Google to index it? What about a local site?

J,
This can depend on many factors - content with proper keywords
and meta tags can index in 24 hours depending on the crawls
on Google for particular content is what I am finding :)
Jay has some training on these things to get there quicker
you might want to check a few out :)
It varies. Best advice I can give you, as far as indexing goes, is to submit a sitemap to the search engines, produce quality content, submit your urls to the search engines for each post (fetch as google and request indexing, submit url, etc.).
Make sure your meta data is configured (i.e. title, description, etc.).
A new site may take a while to be indexed by Google. I personally share the site with Google Plus and let it run on its own. Also Rafa, below, has a cool technique for indexing as well.
I set up Google Analytics, Webtools and Places at the same time.
Guess I just don't Understand WebTools Index as 0. Oh well.
Hi,
I wrote a blog post here about this yesterday.
You can use webmaster tools to force google to index your site almost immediately.

Cheers.
Normally if you've put your google analytics ID on your site (with SEO all in one Plugin), your site will be crawled by the google bots in about 24 hours, sometimes in the next hour. So take a look at google and ask for yourwebsite.com (or what ever TLD you have). and you will see what pages and posts are indexed.

Getting the site indexed is pretty fast.
You install a wordpress site, put up the 'About me' and Privacy Policy' and Google would normally that site. The real challenge is to get the posts ranked. Great unique content get ranked but the time taken vary.
