I have started getting a lot of backlinks from these websites. They do not seem organic or valuable. I have never paid for backlinks or anything like that.

Hi Philip - I'm seeing more of these on my site. I just send them to trash. If you look at their URL's typically they are spam. Once your site gains authority you should be seeing better back-links.

I think Steve has it right. I recently had to trash about 50 comments from a site with back links mostly to porn. I may have to do more if they happen again.

Hi Philip,
Yes, you should disavow these sites if you do not like them and you don't want their backlinks. Have you tried PM' ing Kyle or Jay about this? Maybe they have some answers to your questions regarding this.
Deidre

I will keep an eye on them and if they increase further I will ask Jyle for help. Cheers

Ok, hope all works out.

If you are using All in One SEO, simply go to the Bad Bot Blocker and add their link to the "Referrer Blocklist".

By the way, Google has become wise to this method of negative SEO and they can no longer hurt your website.

oh! Never used that feature. I will look into it. Cheers!

I would say like Joe here. Backlinks are still good in a SEO point of view, but they have to be good ones. I checked the two sites you mentioned and they don't look very good.

I wouldn't pay for backlinks either. I used to do it in the old days because that's what we were taught to do, but that's a dangerous path to take these days if Google notice that there is an unusual flow of backlinks coming in to our site all the sudden.

Just my opinion here.

The only thing I do outside my website for SEO juice is:

- Fetch my posts as Google after I published them
- Write about them in Google +
- Get comments from WA sitecomment

I haven't paid for any backlinks. Which is why I am worried about these. :-)

I don't you should worried for just two links like that :-)

There are over 30 links from these three URL. Growing all the time. :-(

That's strange. Maybe you should ask guys like Kyle, Carson or Jay (magistudio) about this

If it keep increasing then I will give them a shout for sure. Thanks! :-)

No problem

yeah, take action on that

I used to get backlinks to my site by paying a backlink service provider. I understand, backlinks do not contribute to your site ranking like in old days unless they are natural and has authority. Paying someone or use a software to build backlinks to your site might do more harm than good to your site.

I would recommend do it manually from your site and naturally.

Hope that helps.

Hi do you have the akismet anti spam plugin it helps a lot with stopping this kind of thing you go to https://akismet.com/plans/ and register when you do you have 3 option click on the free one and it will give you a key to put a plug in wright the key down then go to your dash board and to plugins, New Plugin and type in akismet Anti Spam download the plug in and activate then go to setting in the plugin and put in the key and update. Hope this helps Best Wishes VickiG

Isn't Akismet for spam comments, as opposed to backlinks?

akismet is no longer needed for anyone hosted on the WA platform, redundant

Didn't know that thought back links came in from comments that you had to look at I have akimet and had stooped over 100 spam comments in the last 3 weeks

What's your website skandy? I can check how toxic the links are.

I am doing some work for a travel agent.

How does Google deal with this duplicate content if the duplicate content originates from the same website?

Each holiday

Hi Philip,
I really don't know how Google will deal with pages of duplicate content, but would it be possible to just consolidate the duplicate content into one page? If yes, then why not place links to this page on the other pages with the different itineraries? In this way, Google will see just the one page with the same content (best time to travel, Safety info, and travel tips) instead of on several pages. This may seem overly simplistic, but just may solve the problem. :-) Hope this helps,
Deidre

I wouldn't worry about these 'schedule like' repeating contents. Google knows...just as it is with recipes . Only so many different ways to roast a piece of pork. Salt, pepper, pre-heat oven to 350F, roast for 2 1/2 hrs. Serve with potato knoedel.

John.

loL! Good point. I am just worried about the volume of content.

Best time to go
What To Wear
Weather
Cultural Differences
etc etc etc...

There is a lot of content there for every single itinerary.

there are so many answers to this questions -see if this helps

Thanks. I agree. I am torn on how to approach this so I am putting out a few feelers to see what other people think.

Hi Phillip,
Here are a few brainstorming ideas I came up with:

1. My suggestion to you would be to ask them if they have a talent or skill in making a particular African product, such as creating African musical instruments or jewelry, or cooking several African dishes. If the answer is yes, then maybe they could create YouTube videos that show other people their craft skills. The videos could then be monetized by selling their products online.
2. Perhaps they can be taught to be affiliate marketers--sell someone else's product, such as:
Wealthy Affiliate--they do not have to create a blog, just learn how to sell WA memberships and get paid
3. Kyle has a video on how to find relevant affiliate programs--here is the link I think this link is for Premium members, so a free WA member only has access to it for the first 7 days of membership

Hope this helps,
Deidre

Introduce them to Jumia Affiliate Program. It's the Amazon marketplace of the African continent.

If I write a negative review about a product - (ClickBank or JvZoo)

Am I allowed to use their product image in my article?

I was sitting tinkering with my Google

Hi skandy,
Hope all is well. Did you receive any message from the Copyright Complaint department regarding any violations? If not, then I think you are probably okay. Maybe they were fishing around to see if any violations were committed. As long as you have the affiliate disclaimers and you specify that your reviews are based on opinion only, that should be sufficient. Also, make sure the pictures you use from Pixabay are really free to use without having to give credit or permission. I would also suggest that you ask Kyle or Carson if you haven't already. Hope this helps,
Deidre

Oh man, sometimes the reality is harsh and the truth is painful, while sometimes the honesty is killing but to swallow the bitter pill is actually the best medicine. I have seen a lot of madness in under 2 years since I step in in this digital world as a more knowledgeable, serious social and networking dream-chaser.

The previous period than that I am just a playful social joker being around just to killing some time when had nothing to do but clueless mind.

Under two years being serious about working online but I am still me in the real-life always being a trooper to experience, learn, and expose myself to the hard lesson at first hand, some unintentional.

My devices like laptops or mobile tablet/pad being "shut-down" as of recently are the sixth time. Just like you, we try to speak the honesty out of "over-hyped" stuff cheat and hack our life as to inform and remind good others.

Strange, why me and what's wrong with our once in a blue moon unfavourable review since we have seen others with products full site endlessly "kill" various products of different platforms published in their own website.

I realized they are "legally" approved to do those "products hit out" agenda since some of them are just part of "people' people", "a circle of clans" or "one of our guys".

But it has taught me well and bit by bit I doing fine along the way turning lesser "deliberate foes" to mutual social networking friends.

Some other times, I just have to do the rebuilding after "the wiped out".

I hope nothing bad will ever happen to you regarding the above concern, my friend. Cheers!

*FYI, I had Clickbank bad treatment only 2 months with them earlier while I am still under their CBU program and I quit soon, after the host of unexplained rejections by them. Only recently after a year, I am able to CB affiliate with different submission.

It redirects to a google chrome extension -- I've seen some other people talking about it online as well. Looks like some sort of new spam thing, they're driving traffic to that extension and fishing for you to go and check it out. Don't worry about it! :)

When i Google the URL it does directly to a Chrome Extension called- o-o-0-o-o Search Bar

This is weird!

You cant be sure your "visitor" is a scamster!

The source was in Russia but when I googled whole url shown in analytics nothing comes up.... weird!

Apart from blocking them. I would not be worried about visitors from russia ...well not from a copyright/legal point of view .

Ah ha!

I run a small family run business and we have recently set a new domain which more accurately represents what we do.

90% of all our backlinks point directly to our root

Hi there,
I'm no expert on SEO but, I think as a courtesy, you should call those businesses and inform them about your domain change. It is probably simpler to just put in a URL that will point to the new domain, since you have had the original domain for a long time.
Hope this helps,
Deidre

You need to do a 301 redirect so that Google knows the content has been permanently moved.

Do I do it on the homepage (where almost all links are linking to)?

Then also isolate the few URL's that are linked to and link then to relevant content on my new site?

Yes. :)

Domain forwarding will not pass on the link juice from the domain you wish to forward from.

What you COULD do is keep the original domain and populated with posts related to your business ... then link those posts TO your new domain.

That would be the better way in my opinion.

So I could make the homepage of old domain a "hey we have a new website" - with a link to new website.

Keep all the old content on old domain -posts, etc etc but link any relevant content over to new domain?

Well ... that too is not a good idea.
You could make the homepage of the old domain a blog roll: Then create related posts of VALUABLE information about your business ... and in each posts offer a relevant link to your new business website.

That's how you can pass on VALUABLE link juice.

Definitely keep the old posts on the old domain, especially if the have links to them ... and add more relevant content to the old domain adding relevant links to the new domain.

doing a 301 will definitely pass link juice, that's what a 301 is for.

Ahhh ... thank YOU Dom for chiming in!>
Of this I was unaware.
and now I do ... https://moz.com/learn/seo/redirection

Nice one! Will I need to keep the old domain/hosting up and running or can I close it once the 301 is in place?

So.... is that a yes? Place the domain forwarding and the old links will forward the traffic.

Will this keep working even after I close the old website down?

I think Rich answered your question.

when you forward from the old domain to the new one---the easiest way to show that is this---if you have a replicating domain from an affiliate program and you buy a domain name for that site--when you point the replicating to the domain name in it doesn't matter which link you give them it all ends up on the same page
