I almost had a heart attack

Hello Wa,

I have to tell you a story!

Yesterday morning, I decided to upgrade my theme. I was using Minamaze and now, I upgraded to Pro.

Well, this didn't really stress me because I had changed my theme several times at the beginning and everything went smoothly.

So, I went ahead and purchased the upgrade. I loved the demo by the way and was really excited about it.

As soon as I clicked upgrade....OH MY GOD!

Everything had disappeared! My site had turned into the demo! Honestly, my heart started being faster, it even skipped a beat. I couldn't see in front of me. Everything went black. I literally had a panic attack!

I had to calm down. I thought that my 8 months of hard work had disappeared in a matter of seconds. I truly thought that.

Yes, I had a back-up but still. I freaked out.

Anyways, I ended up putting everything back in its place except for the images.

They all disappeared. They all turned into a grey square. I still haven't figured out how to get them back.

I spent the entire day yesterday searching the web on how I could fix this.

I even downloaded a plugin Regenerate Thumbnails and still....nothing.

However, all of my images are very visible in my media library so there has to be something that I am not getting.

I am still working on it.

If anyone knows how to get my pictures back, I would be most grateful.

That was my Thursday morning anecdote.

Happy writing!

Sonia

Sorry I can't help you. I wish you the best. Hopefully someone will be able to help you.

Remember to always back up !

OMG, what a shock! I hope you find out how to get it back. I won't be upgrading to Pro anytime soon! Best wishes for a recovery of your work.

Hopefully the tech guys here can help you Sonia. Regular backups are done. Surely there must be a way to go back to a previous version.

Oh my word! Stress! Strength Sonia. Hope you find a fix soon. Unfortunately I am clueless.

So sorry for the pernic but just try what MurdeM says...

I hope you get it sorted out Sonia :)

Thanks Jude!

Hey SJB, i am sorry to hear about your situation and i hope you will be able to find a solution. Did you contact WA technical team? They are usually fast and they have a back up incase your documents or files are lost. Try to contact them.

No, I haven't but I will do so now. Thanks so much!

Oh my God Sonia! Sounds like my Gravatar.
The confirmation e mail never reaches me ?

Hummmmm....that's weird. :(

A wonderful friend of ours, PJ Germain, helped me fix it, its fine now.
Cheers
Therese

Your images should be stored in your database, Sonia. You should be able to retrieve them easily via your WP: If that doesn't work, try your FTP server (I use Filezilla).
Hope this helps.

I can see them in my media library on WP but I can't seem to make them appear on my website. They are currently all grey squares. I do I get them to re-appear? :(

In that case, it's the new theme. Sometimes that occurs when you pick an incompatible theme.
Try inserting a link of your blog post into FB. If the original image appears in the FB thread, your image IS there, but you need to find a way to make it visible.
I would suggest, using another theme and always using "Live Preview" option in WP, before activating a new theme.
