I just turned 50 years old. I graduated my Junior Year. (had enough academic credits), Enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at age 17. Spent 12 in the Corps. Four tours of combat, lots of specialty training for my MOS 8654 (Force Recon). When I got out, I was broken. War does something to the human psyche. I had seen and caused a lot of death and I wanted to make amends. I signed up for accelerated classes at every opportunity.
In just 5. 5 years I had a B. A. in Ministry, and a M. Divinity. I was Pastor of a Holiness Church for 8 years when my illness really began to set in. Fast forward from 2011 to today. I am currently on SSDI at just over $1,100/mo. Medicine costs are about 26% of my income. My wife works for a Circle K as a Manager but I have the drive and determination to get back on my feet . In a couple years, I hope to be earning 2. 5x monthly what Social Security considers more than sufficient income.
I'm very intelligent, and goal driven. I am looking forward to this new challenge and journey.
