Do You Have What It Takes To Be Successful, I Mean, Really?

Last Update: July 23, 2014

I must warn you: today I'm in preaching mode so watch out! : )

In the last couple of days I have had the privilege of getting some expert feedback on my website. I asked them to be harsh and direct - and man they were!

I asked them to give me it straight because I want to continually improve and keep on getting better. But it's totally pointless to ask for help if I don't then take action on what's been said.

The point I want to make is this: don't waste your time or anybody else's if you're not willing to take action.

Success means action

Do you realise how many people out there 'dream' about earning money online one day? This elusive 'one day' will never arrive for 95% of people. Why? Because they will never take action.

A goal without action is pure hallucination.

Sometimes we expect to get from 'here' to 'there' in one fell swoop - the reality is, rather than one giant leap, success is more like a series of small, cumulative and daily steps.

Direction, not intention, determines your destination.

Here we are at Wealthy Affiliate with the top class training at our fingertips, the best tools available to us and leading industry experts on hand to help - you have everything you need to be a success.

WA has the 'HOW' but only you can answer the 'WHY' - What's your reason for wanting to be successful? What's your motivation for building a profitable business online?

Whatever your reason is, I encourage you, no, I urge you - take action.

So, having said all that, will you accept the challenge and join me in this pledge:

"Today I'm going to be a doer, not a dreamer!"

Every blessing!

Simon : )

Well said Simon! Thank you for your post, it really resonated with me when I read it this morning. I joined WA 2 months ago and still haven't completely setup my website. I dont work but i have other responsibilities to attend to. I am the only one who can say "NO" to others and make time for my dreams. Today I will become a doer and stop being just a dreamer! Thank you for your challenge and good luck in journey.

Hi Cyndi! Your comment made me smile because I hadn't actually thought about that but yes you're absolutely right! Be doers of the Word and not hearers only! Same applies to life and WA.

I was born to worship :)

Great to be connected with you Cyndi, lets spur one another on to great works :)

Hi Cyndi :-) How you doing? Really nice site, just left you a comment!

I wrote one praise album review once for the Hillsong United White Album on my site a few months ago and thats got me a fair bit of traffic through search engines.

There's not many reviews of Christian music online so I think if you do reviews on every Christian album/praise and worship you can think of then you'll do well :-)

From one Simon to another, here is my reply 'spreach' :-)

Firstly very wise words from a young man, however maybe a bit simplistic. I really cannot see anyone coming here, outlaying money (albeit not a great deal,) and then take no action and sit back, dreaming away and waiting for it all to roll in.

Yes there have been many people arrive here thinking it would be like that, but they either soon turned things around and got on with it or turned themselves around and walked away.

Yes all the things you said are right but I don't think in this instance that your 'preach' can be a 'one-size-fits-all' message as there are a myriad complex reasons why people do or don't do certain things to achieve their ends. Those reasons are bound up somewhere in the myriad and complex experiences that each individual has had in their lives.

The older a person gets the less risks they take and except for a very few, the greater need they have to see out their lives in financial comfort. There are many, many people here in WA for that sole reason.

As Caylynn says, you are in the top 10 and I agree. I am happy for you because you have it all in front of you, so go for it and all success to you. We'll catch up with you down the track a bit and meet up for a celebration.

Cheers
Simon

Simon, yes slow and steady, each day, each effort builds my dream. Are you the tortoise or the hare? I am a tortoise, a doer and a dreamer.
Congratulations! You are in the top 10! Thank you for this great post.

Exactly - building your business brick by brick, layer by layer. I am the tortoise for sure, but sometimes I just wish I could run a litter faster!! : )

Good day Simon
What I like from your "preaches"
The contrast of black background and white wordings, emphasis on the words 'Success', and 'Repeated'; I concur with the preach.
Also, "I urge you - take action"
Your pledge "Today I'm going to be a doer, not a dreamer!"

Hopefully it's not unfortunate, I differ on the following ... ...
Genuine pointlessness/meaningless is a goal with no actions. Hallucination can be drug induced; it gives me a sense of being sick and likely helplessness.
Motivation could be the word to go with Direction. With these two elements, we should reach our destination.

I am not in offensive mode.
More of sharing my thoughts and words I think/feel suitably describe my idea. I do see our common ground, we are action-takers.

Cheers,
Cheng

Excellent post and I totally agree. We are all here to learn, so if you can't take a bit of constructive criticism, however harsh it may seem, then you are wasting your time, especially if you don't act on it... it is for your benefit!

Awesome post Simon and I love the quote at the end, the "doer" is always the one that succeeds in anything. It is good to dream and to have dreams, but the application of what you learn here and often times the "grunt" work is what will lead to creation and lead to a business being formed.

I also encourage everyone here to take action. I have never seen someone that takes consistent action, works with persistence and work hard fail.

NAIL ON THE HEAD!! This is so very true: "A goal without action is pure hallucination." Reminds me of something I saw the other day... says "Don't give up on your dreams! Keep sleeping!" HA! Funny but relevant! Thanks for a great post, Simon.

Nice motivational blog! I know that some people will hit a dead end and feel like they will never reach the destination they are trying to achieve. Sometimes you just have to get up, walk away and then revisit what you were working on to see it from a new perspective or an alternate way of finding the help you may need to get the task you are working on completed. This works for me anyways. When I was a Parts Manager I was confronted with problems, issues, incorrect parts or shipping delays on a regular basis. Take one thing at a time, manage it, assess it and correct it.Nice Job!

I totally agree, I think that's why a great community like this one is so vital because when you are stuck or frustrated it can be a real lifeline.

I'm naturally an idealist which means if I'm not careful I won't publish a post 'til it's absolutely perfect or I won't do something until it's the 'right time' and I'll never get anything done!

It took me a long time to realise that the right time is always now : )
