Should I Join Wealthy Affiliate Or Not? In Truth, It Depends.

Last Update: December 30, 2017

I get many readers who are looking for a legit online business opportunity asking "Should I join Wealthy Affiliate?"

And it's a great question because I honestly don't think Wealthy Affiliate is for everyone. It depends what your goals are, how much work you're willing to put in and how much time you have to invest.

I have many referrals to Wealthy Affiliate and I can see some squeezing every ounce of value out of their paid memberships and then there's those that keep paying month on month but don't go through the training or build out their business.

So should you join Wealthy Affiliate or not? Let's start with motivation...

We all join Wealthy Affiliate for different reasons...

I joined because I needed a way to fund my volunteer work in Thailand. Before joining Wealthy Affiliate I would go out there for a year and then have to come back to Leeds, England to work in a call centre for a year and that cycle would repeat.

I needed to get involved with some kind of online work that I could do in my spare time whether I was in the UK, Thailand, Philippines or Cambodia so when I finally went through the Wealthy Affiliate Certification courses I was chuffed, it was right down my alley and I was ready to learn and put the work in.

Today I'm at a point where I have 4 successful affiliate sites in different niches and combined I earn more than $6,000 each and every month. I now live in tropical Thailand full-time and have the financial freedom and complete control over my life.

What's your reason for wanting to join Wealthy Affiliate?

Let's be honest here, there's right and wrong reasons for joining Wealthy Affiliate. Here's a few I think are misguided, let's say:

  • You're looking for a get rich quick scheme
  • You're looking for easy money for little effort
  • You think that by becoming a member the money will start rolling in
  • You need to pay the bills at the end of the month - this takes time, get a job!

Here's a few reasons I think are solid:

  • You're a senior looking to supplement your income
  • You have time you can use to build your business each week
  • You're a college student looking to get experience within the online business world
  • You're looking for geographical freedom
  • You want to work for yourself and be your own boss

Whatever your reason is, know that you can accomplish your online income goals here at Wealthy Affiliate but you do not to put the work in consistently before you see results.

You need to give yourself time to learn the necessary new skills and your business time to climb the search engine rankings and reputation.

If you want to make the most out of your Wealthy Affiliate membership then you need to be a man or woman of action

Lots of people talk about getting out of the rat race, complain about their jobs, worry about their financial situation but then they never do anything about it.

It's easy to sit and wonder what it would be like to own a successful and profitable online business but it takes balls to take the massive action required to make it a reality.

This takes discipline and self-control. You won't have a boss standing over you giving you deadlines. You create you own list of tasks and motivate yourself to get it done.

So I guess the real question is: do you have what it takes?

The training will show you exactly what you need to do - are you ready to do it?

The cost of joining Wealthy Affiliate

One of the reasons I joined Wealthy Affiliate in the first place was because the free Starter membership meant I could get a feel of Wealthy Affiliate before ever paying for the Premium membership.

At $49 a month (Nearly half that with the Wealthy Affiliate discounts) it's a realistic, affordable and worthwhile investment.

Now earning around $6,000 per month, do you think I resent the monthly membership? Not at all, joining Wealthy Affiliate is by far one of the best decisions I've ever made.

What do you think?

Whether you're a Wealthy Affiliate member or not, do you think Wealthy Affiliate is worth it and would you recommend it to your friends and family looking to start a new business venture?

Let us know what you think in the comment below :-)

Hey SimoninAsia,
Great post! I agree that building a successful online business takes effort and is not a get rich quick scheme. The training here at WA is straight-forward and well worth the investment. The truth is, you have to have the right mind-set and the balls to accomplish great things. It's inspiring to hear of your success, keep it going!
Blessings,
Marcus

Your blog speaks volumes to me. Before I even heard of WA I knew this is something I wanted to try and knew it would take a lot of hard work and discipline which i am more than willing and now completely able to do.

Your "be your own boss" comment is what hits home the most. I lost my full time job of being a Chef just this past October due to poor management and a work load far too demanding for one person to handle. Because of this abuse I had to stop working because I developed De Quervain's tenosynovitis. This has made it absolutely impossible to do my job properly and what is expected of me as the head chef at my former place of employment. My former employer showed no remorse as it's a business they need to run and no matter how much hard work and dedication I had put into their company in the past it didn't matter because I could no longer perform for their business anymore.

On top of losing my job of over 4 years it was an even bigger blow to not receive any benefits through their establishment and be told that I cant even go to workers compensation because they apparently don't have it. I'm pretty sure that's illegal but I now realize a lot of the things they were doing and probably still are doing is not right and unfortunately they are getting away with this.

I am only 34 years old and basically have lost a lot of movement and feeling and functions in both my hands and wrists. And do my former employers care? The way I cared to help make their business succeed? ABSOLUTELY NOT!

The plus side of all this going down is that I now have the time to do the things I have always wanted to do and this time all my hard work will pay off because I'm doing it for me and no one else. Since losing my job due to this very painful condition I developed I have been researching, creating and doing everything I can to start up my own business. Finally got my website with my online shop launched just this past week. It's an ongoing process and I'm learning something new everyday. I know I'll get to where I want to be just because of how dedicated I am to succeed. I don't ever want to be in that situation ever again and let other people have my likelihood in the palma of their hands. We're living in a world today where no one cares about anybody anymore and it's ABSOLUTELY disgusting and sad. I hope no one else out there has to go through that with a employer.

THANKS so much though for this blog. It truly motivates me even more and I intent to be a complete success and I know WA will help in that process.

Thanks for this blog post-Simonin, this is so encouraging. You joined WA in March of 2014 and I joined in August of 2014. Your time was spent better than mine has been (I had a lot of health issues for 2 years). But this past year I'm seeing some success and I'm working to meet my financial goals during 2018. I think every new Premium member needs to read this post. The truth is that this takes training, effort, and persistence over time to succeed. Newbies need to realize this NOT a quick way to wealth, but something worth working hard for. - shirley

Yes indeed, you are a living proof that it can be done! Money can be made. I am very happy that you shared this post with community, and especially for the newcomers that need more assurance that people are making lots of money everyday through the Wealthy Affiliate money making funnel.

I have not made my money goal yet, and I don't regret joining WA. It's just not my time yet. But it will happen. Actually, I joined WA to learn about the online marketing business, and ways to generate cash from my online business.

This is how I will supplement my monthly income in time.

May your blessings continue to come!

Thanks so much Louisa, to be honest I still wake up every morning still amazed at the fact I'm doing what I'm doing. So many people dream about stuff like this but here I am actually doing it.

And trust me, I'm no one special, just a normal guy, but I was willing to take action on making my goals a reality.

I wish you every success Louisa and can't wait to hear your success story. For surely it's only a matter of when! :-)

I ♥ this post! And yes I agree with you, I just said goodbye to an annual referral, he went premium during the BF of 2016 and never started the course, I asked him regularly what he was up to, and one excuse after the other followed, and he dropped out last month. A lot of people start out here full expectations and enthusiastic on this forum, but they are not willing to put aside their old habits and replace them for new ones and spend the necessary time learning and creating.

I am so pleased to read that you've accomplished a fulltime income! And do such an amazing job! Keep up this good work!
I wish for you a more than double income next month!
Have a great 2018

Aw thank you Loes, God bless you too and thank you for such encouraging words.

It's sad to see that happen, my guess is that guy will tell people affiliate marketing doesn't work when in reality he never worked at it. Such a shame.

I don't know, I think I was just so, so hungry to learn and change my life when I stepped into WA that I devoured the lessons and was so excited when everything clicked together, got my first readers, makde my first commission - such an amazing journey.

I suppose it depends on where you are in life, how serious you are about making a difference to your bottom line and like you say, maybe they have the desire but not the disiciple to make it happen.

Here's to making 2018 bigger and better than ever!! :-)

The course is the same to everyone, but not everyone is the same, works the same, makes the same moves, put in the same time, has the same approach out there, or the same network, so the results will always be different.
