It's the little things

Thanksgiving season is upon us and plans are being made to get together with family and friends to celebrate this years harvest. (Isn't that what Thankgiving is about?)

Many times we forget this. It's just a day that everyone gets together and eats more then they should, drinks more than the should, and in some families, fight and hold grudges more than they should.

When I reflect back at the last year and ponder at my own thankfulness, I realize it is often the little things...the things most people would by pass or overlook...that I am most thankful for.

I'm thankful to the neighbor that helped me change my tire when it went flat. The postman for always bring my mail. That phone call from a friend when you were feeling like you didn't have any. That hug from a baby, and even my dog or cat, how they know just when you need it. Knowing that there is that "ONE" person you can call on when things get ruff.

One day I posted that it would sure be a good night for some hot chocolate if ya had what you needed to make it...on facebook. Soon there was a knock on the door and there stood my neighbor with a couple packs of hot chocolate for with and marshmellows to go with it! What a simple little but most delightful surprise!

For these things I am thankful. I strived to be more of that kind of person myself, every day. To do something every day to make the life of someone else just a little easier, to make that one person feel a little more important, a little more special. It doesn't have to be a BIG thing.

You see...it's the little things.

That's what most people remember, and that's what they will remember about you ...long after you are gone. !

Ya all have a happy Thanksgiving...and don't forget to be thankful!

I think many people take it as a work free day. We don't celebrate Thanksgiving in the UK, but there are other holidays that people just treat as a day off from work.

Thanks for sharing

I completely agree about thankfulness. In this crazy world we live in I give thanks more and more each day. If someone started a new network, it should involve all the good things that we do or see daily. With that kind of positive stories to counter the others, it will help us all mentally.
Great post!

would be a great idea for a niche wouldn't it!?

Happy Thanksgiving. I remember reading somewhere "living thankful should be done all year." But, It's is nice to have one whole month devoted to this one simple thought. Plus where would we be without the annual thanksgiving feast. Thanks for sharing.

I start everyday with Thankfulness! My mom had a saying...if you aren't happy with what you want...learn to be thankful for what you have.
