How the Eric is not like the Erica's - Learn the difference's in names!

Hello my fellow Entrepreneurs,
A soft skill that I want to share today is
I have personal experience of being called the wrong NAME
We are all born right with a name and it is given to us by our parents or guardian.
Well there is a reason we are named
Here are some reasons that we are given a Name!
- To be recognized
- To be addressed to
- To be called upon
- To be heard
- To be loved
- To be identified
- To be pleased
- To be titled
- To help
One thing I grew up with, was being called the MALE COUNTERPART Of my Name
My name is Erica I would say when people called me Eric!
ο»ΏI am a Female not Male!
ο»ΏAs I found this quite insulting to say the least that people would not learn the differences in names!
I would go ahead to educate people about the importance of learning about NAMES.
The world is full of people identifying as not only Female and Male but also they identify as neither of those two Genders!
ο»Ώο»ΏSo I ask you here today in Wealthy affiliate to start recognizing peoples personal preference in how they want to be addressed.
If you are not sure!

Do not assume you know that persons identity!

Growing up some "not friends" would call me Gay instead of Jay. Later in life, it switched to my last name. Most of these instances were due to laziness, or poor education, and some did it on purpose to make me mad.

So sorry to hear this Jay, I know it is so disturbing some people can be with this and that is why I wanted to do this post to make more people more conscious and aware because some people do not try enough to show respect.

Thank Yu, Erica. But what I was saying is that there are people that think that being respected is the same as people fearing them.
Fear is not Respect. True Respect starts out by being given to the other person/people, such as being polite. Then the relationship builds upon mutual respect, which is a give-and-take between the interested parties.

Thatβs a good point. I must admit that I use the name that appears on the account photo and not the account name most of the time. I hadnβt thought that maybe people donβt want their actual name used.

Wonderful to hear the Arabic music is wonderful to listen to and mesmerizing as well. I range from classical that is music not so my on singers to new age and the good old heavy rock like Deep Purple and those of the era but the sixties.
Awesome yes I must admit I do like Deep Purple too, my son loves heavy rock!

Yep I know nearly had that happen to me a couple of times especially when I went to WA That's Aussie's WA and saw so many Kanga's that didn't make it. One just made it in time and on the Nullarbor that is one of the last things you want to happen to you.
more so when you are driving with kids 2 and 4 with you as we were moving their but came back to NSW after a year.
The trip was fantastic just the remains not so great that is why I don't travel in the bush in the evening andn more so when it starts to get dark best to find a spot to stay and leave in the morning.
Wow I crossed the Nullarbor too, I was in a domestic violent relationship at the time with my 2 year old son π₯²
But your right the country here is breathtaking seeing the Kanga's but need to be very cautious on the roads.

My name is Siobhan. Can you imagine all the names I have been called, lol!
I always knew in school during roll call when they got to my name.
Here lately, though, I have been addressed as "sir" on LinkedIn and it is quite annoying. Mainly because I have she/her next to my name!
Sorry to hear Siobhan, It is really so disrespectful and not necessary to do that to you.
People are all to lazy sometimes to learn a pronunciation of a name, I was raised to try my hardest t pronounce someone's name and ask the person what they prefer as a title.
We are raising awareness at least here in my post, thanks for commenting!
