My only experience with WordPress has been here on WA, yet with my new job I am working with a blog that was already set up. I quite like the theme I use at work (TwentyEleven)
Why not have your company join WA under your affiliate link and build their site on it and just maintain it for them and you will earn $22.50 per month from them. Just a thought.
I had thought of this Tommy but I'm not going to be with them forever and I don't want to complicate things for them - logging in, etc. Do you know why the back office is so different between Wordpress.com and WA?
Hi.
Some people use themes as they come - but others may tweak them if they know what they are doing (and in some cases the theme options let you change the look and feel dramatically).
If they are definitely the same theme - that's the only reason I can think of that would make them look different.
I host all of my wordpress sites at WA (except two - but they were built before I found WA) - and I am very happy with the hosting and support etc.
I hope that helps?
All the best, Mark

Why is the same theme different on wordpress dot com and wa?

There are many different custom versions of Wordpress. The way things are set up at WP.com may be different, meaning there are different tabs to look at. Also, plugins can add tabs to your admin area.
If your boss wants to set up a blog, you can host it on your WA account for a fee (her, paying you to manage the site), then they can transfer later if you decide to leave. Or, you can get a self hosted site at a different company like Hostgator or Blue host. Setting up the WP site will be different though!

I need something easy to use with a shop that will allow me to sell e-books. My challenge is that there seem to be too many to choose from and I'm overwhelmed... cannot move for
I like Kathy's suggestion! I would also second the vote for Studiopress. They are good, and I use them.
Easy Digital Downloads is a free plugin that will let you sell ebooks. A client of mine uses it and although she's not that "techie" she manages fine with it. You can use it with most free themes.
If you take a look at Marion link to help choose your theme you can just add the plugin to that. :)
This may help Choose a New Theme There are thousands of FREE themes to choose from but this is how you can narrow it down. ~Marion
Hi, Sibylle.
Let me start with a disclaimer - I am a happy user and an affiliate for Studiopress premium themes. If this is a problem simply ignore my post :)
There is a brand new Genesis framework theme for authors:
http://my.studiopress.com/themes/author/
Again, I am not pushing you into anything but ... if you will eventually choose to go the Genesis way let me know and I will politely ask you to use my referral link :)
I am here for any further questions, of course.
Thanks Ervin. I will definitely look at Studiopress premium themes and, if I decide to go with them, I will certainly use your referral link.
I WOULD LIKE TO BE HAVE ASITE TO SELL UNIQE LEATHER RINGS PIPESAND ARTICLES THAT MAY BE EITHERORN OR THINGSTO GET A PERSON OUT OF A STICKY SITUATION
Thanks for this. Don't suppose there are any that are free? Also, it seems only to be able to sell tangible items.
Thank you. Think I need some sleep first... will have a better look tomorrow. Am I the only person who takes forever to choose a theme?
Definitely not, I too had trouble deciding. My wife chose a responsive theme she liked then added the woo commerce plugin and it seems fine.
Cheers
Terry

Hi All,
I'm wanting to put my Privacy Policy and Affiliate Disclosure in my footer area, but it seems I don't have one. There is no "Footer" widget at all. Short of chan
There may be a plugin to create a footer, but they are naturally theme dependent!

Just curious as to how important it is, if at all?
Thank you so much for asking this question and for the answers. I usually gloss of Agreements like this and when you do this you sometimes miss important things like #10 in the Amazon requirements. I was not aware of the FTC requirement either thank you Rich and Terry.
It's each individual's responsibility and extremely important to check each and every program you affiliate with. For example, Amazon has specific requirements, see point 10. here https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/gp/associates/agreement for example. Rich.
The FTC requires a disclosure. Type in "disclosure" in the above search box & it will return all the information about it. You'll even find an example disclosure statement you will be able to use.
What I did was I added the disclosure to the bottom half of my Privacy Policy page & used a smaller font size (9 I think). Then updated the page. I then downloaded a plugin that would allow me to edit the footer on the Theme I used, added text "Copyright 2014" and "Privacy Policy and Disclaimer" with a link attached to the text to go to the page. I also edited my Menus & removed the Privacy Policy from it. Need to view my site to see what I'm talking about?

Scroll down to the bottom of the "blahg" page & check it out.
Need more help just ask. Ms Terry Ash
Acording the FCT requierements that´s not OK. You should place the disclosure in the review itself, at a visable place (not just visable when you scrol down) and without using smaller fonts. Check out this page for more info: http://www.ipage.com/affiliate/ftc-disclosure.bml

Hi there WA Friends,
I've received yet another email telling me the following:
New user registration on your site Sib's Adventures:
Us
yep, someone trying to get in by the back door. With no context or detail on the email side it is going to be spam. Agree with Nathaniell, Akismet route is advisable.
I find a lot of these are done by bots or people trying to spam your blog. I just turn off "require users to register an account" and then let Akismet handle the spam
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/customize-your-blog-s-comment-moderation
It means someone has signed up to follow your website. If you require people to signup in order to comment, they may have done so.
IT MEANS SOMEONE IS READING YOUR WEBSITE!!! WooHoo
