Sell My Website: I think It's Time to Give up on it

I don't know about anyone else but since the new Google algorithm I have seen a huge drop in my website traffic

It wasn't great before but it was slowly rising and looking quite promising

When I say the traffic has dropped, I mean it's basically non-existent

So I have had a think about things and come to the conclusion that I should sell my website, cut my losses and start fresh with a brand new site

Why Sell My Website?

It's my site that I promote wealthy affiliate on and other ways to earn money online so I won't be getting many referrals for a while if I do but I can't see any other way of moving forward

The site is over a year old so I wasn't expecting it to lose traffic at this age

But I also didn't expect it to be pulling in thousands of people a week either

I have spent a few weeks looking at improving SEO and other things to improve it but there doesn't seem to be anything happening at all

Images are all properly optimized, SEO seems to be OK, and keywords are pretty much spot on

But I still don't see a way to improve it and feel like I'm stuck on a crossroad not knowing which way to turn

What do you guys think?

Should I just keep it for now and see if it gets better?

Or do you think I should move on and start afresh?

Either way, I would love it if you could leave some advice or feedback

Whether it be ways to improve it or the best place to sell your website I welcome everything you have to offer this dilemma I am stuck in

Thanks if you can help

I think you should keep it. My first website isn't doing great with traffic and it's been around for 4 years, but I'll admit I haven't been consistent when it comes to posting content. I have earned some revenue from it, but nowhere near the amount needed to reach my goals. I don't want to give up though and want to keep working to make a great revenue producing site.

Hi Matthew,

I really think you should keep your site.

I have heard some members say they have lost website traffic (I suppose that is from Google dropping the rank on their posts) but I have not noticed that at all.

I follow everything in Jay's webinar As long as I do all the steps, my posts are on Google's page 1 and position between 1 - 4.

I have revamped a couple of old posts that were not following the 7 steps and they are also on Google's page 1. (I still have a bunch of old posts that need the 7 steps and other revamping).

I hope you keep it and let it become successful... then down the road, if you wish to sell it, then do so and make good money.

Monica

I would think about holding on to it for a least of a couple of months and see what happens and if then nothing happens then sell it. The only thing is I can't tell you where or who would sell or buy it. I am sorry that I can't be of more help to you. But I hope that what I did say will help you out. Best wishes on your endeavors and on your journey with WA.

Maybe you could some of the more experienced people here take a look at it and offer ideas before you give up on it, since you have put so much into it already.

Hey, Mathew sounds like a lot of work has gone into it.

Not sure how a site is valued. I guess it's based on traffic and sales but if what you say is right then won't you just be getting bottom $ for it?

What about a youtube channel promoting all the stuff on your site, surely that will improve things?

Cheers
Mick

Hope you will make the right decision and wishing you the best..

If you feel that you could build a better brand with a new website, why not just park your existing site for a while and create the new one? If it isn't getting traffic you wouldn't be damaging its potential value and you'd be able to come back to it once you've got your new site up and running. Maybe then you'd look at it with fresh eyes or new knowledge and be able to tweak something for the better?

I don't know if what I'm suggesting is good or bad I just know that I wouldn't want to sell it if it were mine after I'd put in all that work creating it! Unless of course you can get Lots of money for it, then maybe it would be a consideration.

I have 2 sites that I don't touch and one day I will go back to them and make them work! At least that's my plan. :)

Sounds good, you'll have a fresher more experienced eye later.

I think it now depends on what you can get from it. If what you get from it is not worth your effort, then my advice is to have a bit of patience, continue adding content and boosting your old content. with time you can gain your site traffic.

If your no longer getting much traffic, can you still sell it?

This is why I'm asking for advice :)

I think you will have to show 3-6 months if traffic to your site. So if you are going to sell it, you might want to do it sooner rather than later if you stopped getting traffic. But then I guess you will need to find out the best sites for selling websites on and also the criteria for estimating the value of your site.

I think it depends what you can get for it.

I suppose :)
