Clutch, Shift. Changing Gears
The Squirrel Council have been busy little beavers… running to and fro preparing for the change.
The month of August was interesting. After intentionally ‘unplugging’ for 10 days, my WA Rank, obviously, dropped. Add recovery from my back ‘injury’, I was able to do just enough sitting for my websites ONLY… thus dropping my rank further. (I went from 50 down to 105, as of yesterday).
Clutch
As Racing Squirrel depressed the Clutch, I found myself rolling to a pause, which then leads to a stop. At this metaphorical traffic light, I took a moment of assessment.
Without intention, I have been chasing rank. Oh, I would work on my sites, but every day I would look at my WA Rank as well.
Don’t get me wrong! I admire those that are in the Top 25 and our Ambassadors! For me… today? I’m choosing to not ‘chase it.’
Shift
As the light turns green, I pop the Clutch, a shift through the gears quickly. I started this journey to learn the wily ways of the Internet.
(“Damn it, Jim! I’m a Massage Therapist, not a Programmer!” credit to Dr. McCoy given)!!
I want to take ‘what’ I know and create courses for those in my profession. Somewhere that got put off to the side. That’s when I discovered I was grinding gears.
Changing Gears
Procrastination Squirrel got kicked off the wheel, and Proactive Squirrel got on.
I now have the textbooks, Instructor Manuals, and everything I need to start building these courses!! (I’m a little nerdy about books)!
The building and execution of this dream will be a wee bit time consuming, so something has to go.
For me, the WA Rank is what has to be less of a focal point. I need to focus on SAC and my end goal!
The Council and I will still be here. We’ve just decided to switch gears and go for the Checkered Flag!!

Terrific post Showolf and the council of squirrels, I am glad that all are back on the track!
Hi Shaunna, what a great post. I love gear shifting stories. You will be an Ambassador soon, this I know.
Best wishes,
Michael
Shaunna,
Bravo, I am doing exactly the same albeit in a different space and niche.
That is where the future is at and so is success and the related monetary reward.
I will send you a PM with some suggestions,
Blessings!
I think we all get to the point where we realise we are watching the numbers more than working on the websites.
I like that shifting gears, when the engine slows down you have to shift to slow gear to give more power to engine for road challenge. So thus, with the squirrels and human.
