I am trying to set up a new youtube channel, separate to my personal one. Things seem to have changed since I last did this. Do you have to set up a complete new account now?</

Thanks for this Marion. This used to be in the Creator Studio but it's not there any more. I couldn't find the answer in any Creator Academy videos or anywhere on YouTube and I couldn't find any training here. So I thank you for coming to my rescue and taking the trouble to make the screenshot as well.
Best wishes,
Steve.

You only need one Google account. Go to youtube.com/channel_switcher and create your new channel

Here is a recent training from Jay on the new search console it may help you understand a bit more

Wishing you well

Andre

Thanks, Andre, I'll take a look at that.

You are most welcome have a great day.

Andre

Thanks, yeah from what Barry said on Google Hangouts it appears to be mostly canonical shifts which is perfect actually because all my sites and pages are using canonical URLs and I want that data to matter more than what's there now. Thanks for this!

Hello, all.

I wonder if anyone could clarify this for me?

If I take a screenshot of a product on the Amazon page that I am writing a review for, I can then use th

I just read their terms recently, because, I've heard Amazon is really, really, really strict. If I can remember correctly, I do not know think you can use Amazon images or reviews at all.

You can only use what they provide to you. Such as the stripe which gives you a small image along with Amazon name. And any link that they allow you to have.

Other than, that Amazon is known to cancel people's accounts. They are one company that I would not tread lightly with.

And as far as images, I keep getting mixed opinions as well. I can just let you know that I personally read blog articles were this lady was sued 7500.00 for one image.

Now, I try my best to not add any image fo the product or the company. I can tell you it's hard but, until I figure out what is really right and what is wrong, I will have to proceed that way.

Anyways, I hope you have found the answer about Amazon. Their affiliate agreement is really long but, it best to read all about their rules.

Thank you for your thoughts on this, Kisha. They are much appreciated.

Yes Steve.

It's best when you take a screenshot not to include the word Amazon name. Also read the Amazon Associate rules.

Danny

You’re right, Danny, I should read the rules. That’s always been a problem of mine, I guess what the rules are rather than actually read them.

Thanks for your help,

Steve.

Me too Steve, we men try to put things together without reading the instructions. Take care.

Danny

Hey Stephen,

You best be reading through the Amazon Associate rules so that you have a clear understand else you could find your account frozen for abuse.

Amazon is VERY protective of their images, so personally, I would NEVER use a screen print of Amazon on my website.

If you want to use an image of Amazon's, here's a tutorial for helping you do that: For writing your Amazon review, you could find an eye-catching, attention drawing image for your featured image... that is what I did... and my review of Amazon was not favourable for what I was complaining about. :-)

Hello, Trish.

This training looks like exactly the guidance that I need. I will look into it later today when I have more time.

Thank you for your help and for keeping me out of trouble. I knew what I was asking was shaky ground, that’s why I asked the good people of the WA community. I’ve had an Associates account for over 20 years, I wouldn’t want to lose it now I may actually earn some money through it!

Thank you again,

Steve.

I'm not an attorney, but here is my opinion based on years of experience...

I think you might be okay under the fair use and educational use exemptions in copyright law provided you are using it for educational purposes.

However, if your site is monetized -- and I'm assuming it is -- then Amazon could potentially call foul. They may not, particularly if you are linking to them anyway, but just be aware that it is a possibility.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, AJ.

I would say so as long you are making clear what it is for and that you don't own the image.

Usually, when using a screenshot you do highlight what is being said in your content.

So it is clarified there.

I hope it helps a bit perhaps someone else can say it better.
Sylvia

Thanks, Sylvia.

No, absolutely not. Unless you are an Amazon affiliate, you cannot use their images in any form, including 're-photographing it or taking a screenshot. Neither can you use their reviews or star ratings.

Thanks, Diane.

Hi, everyone, I’m hoping for some opinions on this.

I have recently signed up to an independent affiliate scheme. Among the tools and resources are four ready made

Never duplicate content whether it is indexed or not.

Thanks, Maxine.

That seems to be the general opinion. I won’t be using the duplicate content on my website now, but I will be using it as a guide to what to write in its place.

Thank you for replying.

Best wishes,

Steve.

No problem Steve.
We are here to hell each otherby offering gentle reminders.
Maxine

Hey Steve,

Just because a site is not indexed does not mean Google's scripts cannot tell when content has been duplicated. It is always advisable to NEVER copy content from anywhere even if YOU published it.

However, you COULD write about the same subject and that is not duplicating content, providing different wording is used.

Hope you find this helpful.

Hi, Trish.

Thank you for your input.

I’m going to listen to you and other WA members and produce my own link pages rather than copy and paste the merchant pages.

Apart from the duplicate content problem, I think having my own content will set me apart from any of my rivals.

I guess I knew the answer all along, it was just me being lazy thinking I might get away with the easy option.

I’m learning that laziness is not going to bring success.

Thank you again,

Steve.

Good answer, Steve!
Yes, create your own content! It is fun!!

Aloha, Jenna

Thanks, Jenna.

Everything I have posted so far has been all my own work and, because of the superb advice you have all been giving me, will continue to be so.

You are right, it is fun!

Best wishes,

Steve.

And THAT is the "secret"... being fun I mean.

If someone views this as "w. o. r. k." than perhaps they're in the wrong place. ;-))

The only problem that I can see with this is that we don't really have any control over whether our pages are indexed.

It sort of works on a courtesy system when you click the box informing search engines that you don't want that site to be indexed.

For as long as your page is not indexed, it should never be a problem.

Does having duplicate content hurt your entire site? I only think it hurts the ranking of that post or page, specifically. That said, what do you care if it is identified as duplicate content? If everyone in your program is using the same page and none of you want people to find that page organically, none of that really matters.

I wish you the very best in success!

Thank you for your thoughts, John. I’ve got some time to think it over. I want to write a few more original posts first before I put my plan into action.

Best wishes,

Steve.

I am using the twenty sixteen theme because I like the not-in-your-face simplicity of it. When it comes to the primary menu it’s a little too simple and I find myself nee

Take a look at my test site:

http://2017.siterubix.com/

Is that what you're looking to do with your menu?

Hi, thanks, yes, that’s exactly what I want to do. Did you need a plugin to do that?

No but here's how you do it.

1) Log into your site dashboard.
2) Navigate to Appearance > Menus.
3) Under Custom Links enter # for the URL and give the menu item a title in link text (i.e. Categories) then click Add to Menu.
4) Drag it where you want it to show in your menu hierarchy.
5) Under Categories click View all, place a check mark next to each category you want to use and click Add to Menu.
6) Drag the newly added categories on top of the menu you just created to nest them within it. You can then drag them around to change their order.
7) Click Save Menu.

Test it out.

Yes, it all makes sense now. I think I’ve done this before. Thank you for taking the trouble to reply with the solution and thanks for jogging an old man’s memory! Much appreciated.
Regards,
Steve.

Any time...if you can get away with something, without having to install yet another plugin, I say do it!

Happy to help man.

Exactly, too many plugins make the page slow to load, so I understand. I’ve just followed you, I hope you don’t mind.

Not at all..you're number 939. My goal is 1000 by the end of the year :).

Mega Menu is the best.
Free and paid version. The free one suffices to have a great menu - only that you need a bit configuration but there are a lot of Youtube how to configure it.
All the best.

Joe:)

Thanks, Joe. I did take a look at Mega Menu last night but it was so late I didn’t think about the “how to“ YouTube videos. I’ll have another try with it next time I’m on the Mac. Great tip, thanks again!
Steve.

The first time I used it, the menu appeared double. Just go to the plugin page and there's solution to it. So if you encountered the same issue, just hit to their page, there's a code to rectify that.
Else, look for a theme that incorporate Mega Menu in the theme.

Joe:)

Great advice again, thanks.
