Doing Time Online
Do you ever feel like you are "doing time" online?
By this I mean, do you sometimes feel like a prisoner of the internet, metaphorically chained to your computer desk and just can't seem to escape that rectangle screen in front of you?
When we first start our online journey and get full on into the training here at Wealthy Affiliate, we are naturally full of zest and zeal and passion for what we are learning and accomplishing. That's only natural. It's akin to when you first fall in love and just can't get enough of them.
But months (or years) down the track, we can all start to feel jaded from all the time and effort we've been putting into our training and building our online empires. But still, we feel compelled to keep going no matter how tired or drained we feel.
While it's admirable to persevere and have a good work ethic, we still need a sense of balance in our lives.
If you feel like you are suffering burnout, but yet keep forcing yourself to "get things done" anyway, the fruits of your labour could just end up being rotten garbage rather than fresh and lush and juicy.
Take breaks from your work and your learning. Give your mind a change to:
- Rest
- Relax
- Rejuvenate
- Renew
- Revitalise
Spend time with your loved ones. Take a vacation. Go for a long walk in the park with your dog. Go out on the town for some dinner and drinks to celebrate all your hard work.
All work and no play makes for a very dull and boring life.
When you force yourself to constantly be working on your online business, pretty soon that business will seem like nothing but a major chore. It will kill your passion for it, and that would be a shame, because your business could be on the verge of exploding into another stratosphere. And the only reason it didn't happen is because you drove yourself to work "too hard".
Always remember to keep balance in your life. Work hard and play hard. This way you will maintain your passion for your business, and that enthusiasm, more than just about anything else, is what will carry you on through to a life of online business success!

I wrote this because sometimes I feel like I'm chained to my computer by my own doing. We all need a break at times, as it's just as beneficial to being productive as is putting in the hard work.
I don't have this feeling of "doing time". I do it, because I love it. Sure some balance has to be. Between family, work and pleasure. Not always easy, but definitively possible!
I have a short holiday right now, from Thursday to Sunday, and I must admit I spend most of my time behind my desk, but I am not "doing time", I simply love it here:)
