Beware of the many scams out there!

Hi everyone.

I have had a great influx of new members following me and welcome to you one and all!

I have a basic rule that if you follow me I will follow you back, and we can all learn from each other.

Which brings me to my next subject, scams.

Seems there are some that are filtering though into our community, and I thought I would point out some facts and differences in services by members and scammers.

First, understand no platform is immune to scammers, and as WA grows so does the temptation for the not so up and up people to take advantage of the numbers of new members.

Kyle and Carson and their crew will be on every single scam that they become aware of immediately because they care about their members, us. :)

Now, some things to know:

  • Nobody will ever contact you personally through your telephone from WA for anything, period. if they do, report them immediately.
  • WA does not offer anything besides what is openly advertised, Premium membership and Jaaxy. if they do, report them immediately.
  • members do not contact other members about OFFERING services or the likes. If they do report them immediately

Now, that being said, there are members here who are hired by other members for things, but that happens by YOU, the member, finding out about what that member might have to offer to you and by YOU contacting THEM

Examples of this might be building websites, writing content, tracking, etc...

There are members here who understand marketing and advertising but hate website building and content writing. These members might search out other members here and inquire about hiring them for certain tasks.

For example someone might be an awesome info graphic creator and get hired by another member to create one or more for them.

Another member might be known for creating awesome headers and you just want them to do one for you so YOU contact THEM.

This is called doing business, and not scamming, unless THEY contact YOU and OFFER their services.

That is called self promoting and is not allowed here and K and C do not have any tolerance for it, and rightly so. This includes using any affiliate links in any of your blogs or chat.

In summary, just be careful, do not give out any personal information ever, and report anything you feel is not right. K and C can sort it out.:)

Great post, Shawn. I have seen newcomers here that really appreciate the no scamming rules. Many have been scammed before they came here (I'm one of them) and don't want to see it here. They appreciate feeling safe here while learning to create a legitimate business. In fact, that's what many Boot Campers promote, that there isn't any scamming here.

Exactly!

Thanks Shawn… very true… scams are everywhere!

They just keep coming don't they?

When I was member a couple of years ago, there was a place where you could see the services that some of the talented people were offering. Does that still exist?

No, and simply because of abuse. It has been talked about for a while now, but so far no indication of it coming back anytime soon. That would be a question for K or C

Great job Shawn! We're all here to help each other, not Spam each other...at least that's the goal. I hadn't heard of people getting phone calls from other members, such a shame. I don't like phone calls much in the first place, let alone someone trying to sell me something out of the blue, lol.
Keep up the great work and best wishes :) -Sherry

Yes, phone calls out of the blue offering you services is definitely a no no. :)

Excellent post. Thanks for sharing this evening. Best regards.

You are welcome!

Never hurts to be reminded of such things.

Right you are :)

Thank you Shawn. It seems the bigger we get our percentages of having these types of challenges grow. I appreciate your guidelines which are pure common sense. As a family we will protect each other.

Exactly

Thank you Shawn. :) Have a nice evening.

Likewise :)

Yes, we always need to watch out for scammers.

Yes we do :)

Solid tips. Perfectly sums up what is allowed and not allowed.

Seems members are getting phone calls and such. If you are following me I will warn ya :)
