I have never been happy with my website's address and name, but it's content heavy and I don't know what the impact would be on existing content and then there's the social medi
Looks like you got some good answers. May not have been what you wanted to hear but at least you know it's not a simple task to change domains. Although it is done all the time. Good Luck Shawn
I didn't expect it to be easy, I just wanted to know how far the ripple effect would go. I'm still giving it some deep thought. It may be worth the effort in the long run.
Thanks for the input.
I know it's a pain but changing your domain name and transferring the old site info to a new site is well worth the effort.
I recently had to do just that. I wanted a more marketable site name and domain name. I'm so pleased I made the change.
I know there are WordPress folks who can transfer files but I don't know how this works. I did it the hard way, manually. Too cheap to pay someone to help.
Sounds like your business instincts are telling you something.
If you are feeling froggy then jump !!!
Changing url is not an option, but I suggest you do not be obsessed with it. People do not search by site name, they search by keywords.
I have a very specific desire to change the domain and site name. Why is it not an option? I disagree if you want to know about cell phone plans you type in AT&T, or Sprint no?
I am looking to shorten my name/domain to make it more search friendly and marketable on a resale.

I did this about three weeks ago. I'll make a WA blog soon so others can find out how to do that here within the community. Until then, I have step-by-step instructions on my site http://affiliatebeliever.com/transferring-content
Tip: if you set up 301 redirects, it must be an exact match. In other words, don't copy the URL from the editor.
P.S. Let me know how it goes.

Is it possible to change a siterubix domain to one I own and if so, how do I accomplish that?
If not, do I copy content and build a new site and delete the previous one?</
Yes you can. One you have registered your domain name there is a button in site manager underneath each siterubix domain you have called 'Move'. That will take care of everything you need to do to move your siterubix site to your own domain name.
Rudy my man you rock. I must've been working without my glasses to have missed that button. I'm golden now and disasterpreprednessmadesimple.com up. a working progress, but it's running. Thanks brother.

If I built a WA hosted site is it searchable through search engines, or do I need to own the domain to be found on internet?
Tommy, I think I didn't ask the right question. Once you build you site is it launched and searchable? I tried to look for my site and what I found was not my site. I'm confused.
You don't need to own the domain but it does help. I've found other domains through Google many times and also managed to get traffic without my own domain before. I now have my own domains.
