Shawkins1,

Congratulations about your new website, I hope it is already making you money. I still have to take the lesson, right now I'm working on my WA community work, you know meeting people, saying hello to nice people like you. By the way, I just love London, I act like a tourist anytime I'm there. My last trip was in 2009. I hope I can make enough money to get back. Anyway, I just wanted to wish you the best of luck, feel free to contact me if you need to help. Happy Marketing and goodluck with your 1st website!

Your friend,

Jason

I hope things are going well. I know you are getting rolling within the training and there is ONE thing that always tends to confuse people and that is "what is my niche?".

I know, same thing happened to me when I started.

I just wanted to reach out and let you know that I am here if you ever want to run any niche "ideas" by me or you have any questions about finding your niche.

Get back to me when you get the chance! :)

Thanks Jason. Yes you're right, i am struggling somewhat with my niche picking. Thought i had one, golf balls. Thats narrowed down the bigger sector of just golf, and should still bring in decent revenue. However just put that on the live chat and people didn't seem to agree. Said how was i going write 300 odd blogs on golf balls. This is getting me confused now, as how does anyone write 300 off blogs on anything, baby lotion or something as an example..?

You are definitely on the right track here with the golf balls, as I think it would make for a great niche.

At the same rate, I can see why some in chat may have suggested it can be difficult to write lots of content surrounding one specific item or product.

The fact is people are searching for golf balls and other golf related gear, which is why I say I think it would make for a great niche.

Have a look at this article when you get the chance, it may even trigger some other ideas related to golf:

https://nichehacks.com/golf-niche/

I think you will be able to find a decent amount of content to create here as there are different golf balls used for distance and control. You can discuss how golf balls can improve one's swing or par, you can also review different golf ball brands, etc. (Sorry I am not too familiar with golf, but putting suggestions out there).

But definitely have a look at the article above . After you do this and if you want to run any further ideas by me, let me know and I will give you a hand.

Sounds good!

So you think maybe don't just confine to just golf balls, maybe expand a bit more into golf equipment..? I thought the idea was to dig down into a niche to just focus on one thing..?

I would do the research now and see how much potential content you can come up with for golf balls.

See if you are able to locate good keywords. Use the alphabet soup technique to help you find these keywords.

From here you will be able to get a better sense if this is the niche you would like to pursue.

Here's the alphabet soup technique: Also, be sure to connect with either Carson or Kyle for their input. These guys know their stuff and may be able to give you more insight regarding this niche.

Welcome to WA premium membership, you made a wise choice.
I created a training, that may help you organize your learning material here, and outside of Wealthy Affiliate. You can see it here: - hope this lesson will help you make your journey here on WA a little easier, and less overwhelming.

Blessings!

Hi Kyle. Just wanted to run something by you if ok, was pointed in your direction. Still struggling to find my niche really. Have come up with Golf balls, but some have suggested this may be too small a subject, how would i write loads about this.. So do you think i should open it up to Golf Equipment say..?
My other question relates to the actual website i'll be setting up. I am slightly confused, as are these websites meant to be for selling, and putting links on to affiliate sellers, or is it meant to be a blog with links on..? Knowing this will help me decide on my website address and title i think....
Thanks ins advance

Golf equipment is too broad, you might want to narrow it down to golf balls. That is a huge niche!

Thanks Kyle. Can i change my website name once registered in siterubix..? I wanted to stick with just golf balls but didn't, and have now created a website for the broader golf equipment out there.

Unfortunately, you cannot change a domain name after it has been created. You would need to create a brand new website with a new domain if you wanted to update the domain URL. That is the only way to update the URL of your website.

If you are a Premium member, you can use the Move feature to move all of the old content from the old domain to your new one and this will make it so you don't lose any of your existing work you have done on your domain.

Hey Simon,

Just stopping by to check in with you and see how things are coming along here at WA.

I noticed you haven't had the chance to finish setting up your profile yet. If you need any help on how to do this, this video explains it well: Finishing your profile by adding any image and a little about yourself helps other WA members better connect with you since they see you are a real person, lol.

I'm always here if you need me! Feel free to ask any questions and I will assist you wherever I can.

Hi Jason.
Thanks for the contact. Am still in the process of setting stuff up, can only get access at certain times.
So this will be a slow burner for me to begin with.
Is that ok do you think..?

Sure thing, Simon.

You can work and follow the lessons at your own pace. There's no hurry.

But obviously, the more time you can put in the sooner you will begin to see results.

Again, there's no hurry here, work when time permits.

HI Jason. How does it work from a tax point of view..? Say i start earning a decent income (at first I am looking at it as a supplement to my perm job). Money gets paid in commission into a paypal account yes, then you do your own tax returns..? Apologies for what may sound like a 'dumb' question, i've never worked for myself before...

These are in no way dumb questions. I asked these very questions myself when getting started.

After earning a decent income, you can report and file a return as self-employed.

You can learn a bit more of what to expect when filing as self-employed by clicking just below:

https://quickbooks.intuit.com/r/professional/what-is-the-self-employment-tax-and-why-am-i-paying-it/

I've used Turbo Tax for Home and Business this past year and the whole process, though new to me and very confusing, became much more simple.

It's also worth noting that expenses will depend on your business.

But, for example, you can write off things like your Wealthy Affiliate membership, domain purchases, outsourcing, advertising costs - basically anything that was associated with your online business.

Hope this helps.

Thanks all. Can I just be blunt so I get it straight in my head. Basically here we set up a website, with WA’s help on WA’s platform, and then start a blog on something we are passionate about, because we have to write a lot about it and consistently update it and be pretty expert in that field. And in the website we add in links to affiliated websites which sell applicable products, and if people go through our website and purchase, bang, commission made..?

That is somewhat the gist of it, but correct.

You do not need to be an expert in your niche. Of course you will want to provide reliable/helpful information but you don't need to be someone who is 'super experienced' to pursue a niche.

In response to with WA's help on WA's platform; the training here proves results, I can personally attest to this.

And as a premium member, you receive hosting, websites, technical support, a writing platform, etc. However, you do not have to host here and can build out and host your websites elsewhere, just so you know.

I personally do everything in-house and have found everything here from the hosting, website builder, support, etc to be excellent. It comes with the membership so why not?

But you are not bound to WA's tools. Some people host elsewhere and utilize the training here. Again, I am just putting this out there so you know.

But you are correct about adding the affiliate links to websites to sell related products and services. When someone visits your website and decides to take action after following your affiliate link, commissions.

You will also come across other opportunities along the way like ad revenue from Google Adsense, email marketing opportunities, and others to help generate income.

Hello Simon, welcome to WA!

I'm Jason and I believe you just joined through my website Extra Paycheck Online.

I am here to help you get started and to personally help you along the way to establishing a successful online business.

But first, I recommend you set up your profile if you haven't already. This can be done by:

1) Adding a profile image.
(It can be anything you like. WA even provides default images that you can use).

2) Add a personal description.
(Let us know a little bit about yourself and why you decided to join WA).

And that's it!

These simple steps will show that you are really serious about learning how to succeed at this business. People are also more likely to answer your questions and help if they see you've taken the short time to complete your profile.

To get started with the first lesson, simply click the green Get Started Here option (left-hand menu) or try the link below: This is the first lesson and is an introduction to the platform here and soon you will be learning how you can expect to earn money and even begin building your own website, all within these lessons.

If you have any questions or feel 'stuck' anywhere, just ask.

Myself or some of the other members of this community will be around to help.

It's good to have you here Simon. Don't forget to begin the first lesson!

- Jason

PS. Feel free to say hi so that I know you made it OK and I will get back to you ASAP.
