What is wrong with this year's sign up?

It seems that people just do not care about having or should I say putting in the work to have a online business. This is at least the data that I see from the people signing up and dropping on and this is not just on my end.

It seems that everyone is hunting for the instant, no effort but earning money technique and that just doesn't exist. If it did then we would all do it....I mean really!

I am not the type of person to promote something I do not believe in but I do see people making 10 tens of thousands of dollars promoting BS.

When I say that, I not mean here of course. I mean all the clickbank bs....none of that is value added and everyone knows it.

I will say that since I started with Wealthy Affiliate, I have made my money back to pay for being here so if all else fails, at least I gained an experience.

Promoting Amazon products is a wash because the industry is saturated so badly it is a joke plus what they pay is next to nothing.

The only thing that makes sense is promoting WA, this is just my point of view so I do not except anyone else to agree because opinions differ.

If you are making tons of money then I say make it, hats of to you but if you are promoting BS then well....you know how I fell about that.

Thanks for sharing, Shane.

I very much agree that only by being true and real and actually trying to provide valuable info, it will give us real satifaction - and in the long run I also believe that the ones that are honest will be the most succesful. When you look at the long term WA members that are making a living, they all have an honest approach, and are providing value.

Then unfortunately I also see many here that are getting seduced by the idea, and starting to make all kinds of claims on their websites just to get people to sign up. Sometimes it is even claims about WA - I have seen people writing on their website that they are now able to make a living by working online because they have learned it at WA and can teach other. However even though the just joined, or the same person is writing here on WA to ask when they can expect to start making money:-) We know that it is possible to learn all you need on WA, but even when promoting WA, we should not lie to people about our own achievements just to make a sale - it won't last in the long run anyways. People will find out if somebody lies about this and then leave WA without really giving it a chance. And then it is a loss for everybody.

So let's help keep each other honest and build our business and life like that:-)

All the best,
Mikael

Very much agree.

Thanks for the comment, continue acting as a team ad looking out for one another.

I agree.

I am not keen on going with Amazon because as you mentioned, the commission is kind of a joke, but I feel I need to be successful with something before i can promote WA... Plus, promoting WA is rather hard, I believe, simply because there are so many scams out there that people are wary.

I would love to do something that would pay right away, because things are... difficult... at home right now. I could definitely use the income. I wouldn't be able to sleep well though if I was making money by deceiving people or promoting something I don't believe in.

Seems all the honest hard working people agree, being truthful in making money is the key to happiness....what I mean is not that money brings you happiness but that you are able to provide for yourself and others like your family with no weight on your shoulder.

Feeling good about what we do makes success that much more of a benefit.

Thanks for the comment.

I appreciate you sharing your views Shane and I totally agree with you. I too believe that there is no such things as a get rich overnight thing. It takes time and a lot of hard work. I am definitely not quite there yet but I will continue to preservere and push forward until I get there.

About Amazon I agree. But there are many other affiliate programs, which are worth considering.

1,000% agree. Although I have used Amazon over the years, it definitely has not been my primary, ever. There are 100,000's of affiliate programs out there that can be leverage, across any niche. Amazon is just one of those.

I feel that Amazon should be a starting platform because they are always changing and that means you have to update the post or page that yu are promoting so it takes effort away from our growth from making our sites better, the less maintenance the more productive.

I see quite a few in the live chat asking how long it takes to make money, or asking how much others make. Wait until they find out all the work that they have to put into this.

I haven't been here long and know it takes a while to get traffic and earn money. It takes a lot of time and patience.

I agree about Amazon, I actually joined the other day but don't think I'll follow up on it. There are too many things going on with them mostly negative. I am with another network that accommodated me with a custom made banner and found a merchant with exactly what I need for my niche also.

The new signups will learn that it's not as quick as they think it is.

Traffic is one thing but once they get there than being able to keep their attention is another so going for the right traffic is the best option. The people are looking for info on your topic.

Then funnel it to where you want it.

Like I said, I make money here and do plan on staying but the future generation whats the quick fix that doesn't actually exist.

Thank you for your comment.

Hi, you are welcome.

I have quality and helpful content which is the main thing. Making a living will follow in time. I believe I will do well :)

What Kyle says makes so much sense, he has been doing this for a long time, and has seen it all.

I'm happy to be here, I started elsewhere and didn't like their methods. I have very little computer experience and can't believe how far I've come in such a short period of time!

I'm proud of myself :)

Looking at what other people are doing or "say" they are achieving, is a trap. Those that tout that they are making $10,000's per day are those that are typically involved in schemes that are taking advantage of people and where they are outlaying incredible ad spend in order to make this.

And for few people that may be making this, there are an incredible number of people losing their "shirts" as a result, often times not being able to afford rent or pay their next bill because they are sucked into the idea of making this much more day themselves.

Not to mention, people that "brag" about money are 99.9% lying about how much they make. I know this from experience dealing with such folks, you can usually take what they say and take 5-10% of that and that is their actual net.

Anyone promoting on "HUGE RICHES" is all they have to go on to sell their stuff, not the actual product or the merits of the quality of the product itself (which is a huge red flag).

There are 100,000's of directions that you can head with a niche, all with a lot of opportunity. So you choose accordingly, just don't chase the idea of what others are doing. From experience, the slow roller business is the one that continues to grow and that has longevity.

Those posting FB Ads just so they can sell their $5,000 info product will die out, just like this happened within Adwords years back when Adwords shut the door on this sort of marketing activity because too many people were getting taken advantage of (and Google was dealing with a lot of lawsuits for serving these ads).

My thoughts.

Thank you, Kyle, I agree.

This is the leading reason why I have chosen to just promote WA and then shift my focus on my original niche which adds value to people trying to learn PLC programming and this niche has no affiliate nature.

What I do plan on doing for this niche is to start a programming business locally but to also have this tie into my site for a virtual training with a re-occurring income but takes a lot of effort on the front end setting up.

I have learned a great deal from WA and plan on staying where I am but making this virtual training to be low cost but re-occurring income.

This is what I do every day in my day job so I figured shifting to follow my passion is the way to go.

It seems to me that you have experienced a lot of hard times with those so called "get rich" schemes and this is the reason you decided to make WA to truly have an honest placed for people to learn.

The sad part is people are always looking for the fast income so we have to overcome those fake people which I have talked about in the past in my WA blogs and training that I made.

Again, thank you for your time.

Shane

And I just wanted to add, that part of the problem with the mentality and expectations people have is because of this exact "rich overnight, $10,000 in a day" sort of tone that MANY of the unscrupulous are setting out there.

People are constantly being sold this idea and they need to be brought back to reality. This mentality is being built off of those that are stealing purses from older ladies (but in the digital), whereas you can create a long term and legitimate business truly helping people.

Expecting fast income will typically lead someone to getting taken for a ride and that is why these types of "get rich quick" schemes survive online, albeit usually temporary before they change company names and move to another country to continue operating.

I have done research on a lot of those products and from what I found is that the program they offer is not very good or is riding a trend.

I will say that most of them are great at marketing so it makes the product look more appealing and as we write blogs, it doesn't give that same feel....meaning attention grabbing.

Sales funnels are a dime a dozen these days but they are effective but cost a lot to do and the ROI has to be our outlook on whether it is in our best interest.

So far, only Wealthy Affiliate is the only place that is honest and is the best for the value.

This is out of all my research.

Thanks,

Shane
