Does Embedding a YouTube Video Boost Your Rankings On a Post?
I ran a test with a fake keyword that was not index in Google and made 5 post for this keyword with the exact same content but using different URL structure so it would not prompt duplicate content.
After a day, all five were ranked and showing one through five on page one.
I then choose the third position URL or post in this group and added a YouTube video to it.
After just one day, that post jumped from the third position to position 1.
What does this prove?
That adding relevant YouTube videos to your content will help you out rank your competition if you are not using them but your content and keywords are fairly close.
Not much of an edge but in the world of Google....we need all the help we can get at times.
I hope this little test helped you understand that YouTube videos can help but don't just bank on that....it is just one tool to help.

I have been using YouTube videos quite often. I think it peps up a post but has to be really relevant of course. I am now updating old posts with some more text, photos, video whatever I think makes the post better.
I do not check my ranking with Google on a regular basis, perhaps I should start doing that.
