The Benefit of Working for Yourself [Sick Day]
Anyone who follows me know I have a day job. This affiliate marketing stuff is my business I do whenever I'm not working or sleeping, basically. I take time out every evening to chill and unwind from staring at a computer screen for six hours by reading, but otherwise, I'm glued to my laptop.
I went to my day job today, picked up some stuff after work, and then got back. Now working for myself the second half of the day, I said screw it and took a nap that lasted four hours.
I wasn't feeling well and was hurting and grumpy and there was no way I was going to be in the frame of mind to write, especially as I would probably sound grumpy if I tried.
So sick day!
No boss to call and then make me feel guilty I didn't come in. No coworkers who had to cover me while I was gone. No guilt. Nada. I was able to relax with a heating pad and read this evening after I woke up.
Another bonus, I can set my OWN hours and when I was finally up to it, I did a TINY bit of work since sleeping was out of the question after the long nap.
So while later, as I work for myself and have no one to work FOR me when I take the day off, and with my grandmother still in the hospital, I'll have to get motivated. I can't neglect my site for too long.
Keep in mind, a sick day for affiliate marketers isn't so bad in our business as it is when you have people relying on you to show up for your job. My site can function without me for a while.
I'm thinking I might like working for myself if I can get ill and not feel guilty all day.

Self-employment has its advantages and of course its disadvantages. I don't think we would find a boss willing to pay us for the hours we do!

Working for ourselves can have advantages, but then again we can be driven, self bosses I wouldn't like to work for me when in that zone.
