Deep Thoughts - On My Mind

It is only after the deepest darkness that the greatest joy can come. -Malcolm X

Have you ever notice that when something bad happens we humans seem to come together? Why is that?

Why should it take a tragedy in our lives to bring out the best in us? Wouldn't we all be better off just loving each other wholeheartedly, every day?

I wonder what would happen if we treated our brothers and sister like we truly love them. Is it really that hard to show true love even to a stranger? Are we not all created out of the same matter? Do not our governments tell us we are all created equal?

We tell each other if you cut me I would bleed the same color blood as you. But yet, there are quite a few humans beings left in this world that only see the color of a person's skin.

We may be able to hide our feeling for one another, but only for a short time because when someone gets under your skin the true essence of our character stands out. Tell me, why do you think that is?

What if you heard one day that your neighbor was about to lose their car, the only thing that they had to get them to the next paycheck. Would you secretly pay to get them caught up. let's say that you were in the position to do this for them. Would you?

I suppose the circumstance leading up to the event would matter, right?

What if they were hooked on drugs or a drunk? Would you help then anyway, even if you knew that they could never pay you back?

Tell me, my good readers, your deepest darkest thoughts.

Just another episode from the no picture show, now tell me what you know.

This world needs brave people to start change....

It'll take a lot of brave people willing to make a world of difference.

This is really thoughts to think on. With crime and violence we ought to be careful. The world is gone mad. Even in doing good can be construed as being" nosey" or it is not your business.

It's a tough subject to talk about, I know. Just want to get other people thoughts on it.

Thanks for this.

Thank you for checking it out

Wow, these are deep thoughts.

I replied but then decided to delete my reply because there are some things/experiences that are best left off the internet.

No problem

Great post. Thanks for sharing!

Have I ever helped someone I knew couldn't pay me back? Yes. Do I do it daily. No. Would I help someone who was on drugs or drunk. If I felt that what I could do for them would really help. Sometimes the best thing we can do for someone is pray for them.

Prayers could go long ways, bring someone into a church can at time change or save a life.

For better or worse, I personally feel more of a connection towards animals than humans. For animals, I would help them from my heart. For humans who are strangers and therefore don't affect me deeply, I would help out of ethics.

I have heard this said a lot. We are more willing to help an animal, which I think is a great thing. But is not a human life more valuable than an animal?

Subjectively, one may care more about animals than people, as I do and some others do too. Objectively, one may think human life more valuable than animal life; however, that's not my opinion. My opinion is human and animal life is of equal value. To say that human life is more valuable is subjective opinion because most people who have that opinion happen to be human.

A domestic animal or pet is more loyal to its owner, no matter how we treat that animal or pet. But as humans, we expect something in return otherwise we find our selves contemplating over if we should help them.

Not sure if I completely understand what you just said.

But here's my thoughts:
I don't base the value of an animal on what they can do for me but based on the fact that they are sensate with wants, feelings and emotions just like humans, and that goes for wild animals as well as domesticated.

However, if I were to choose who to help, my own pet or another animal whom I don't "know", I would definitely "favor" my own pet due to loyalty/personal relationship. Same would go with humans, that is, I'd choose as priority to help those I have personal relationship with, whether biologically related or not.

It's easier to help a person that we have a personal connection with, especially if it family or a very close friend
