I have recently found a little keyword secret (well its no secret really) that dramatically lowers keyword QSR but still maintains the same monthly traffic within the Jaaxy search. Just put words like "What is", "What is in", or "About", these will lower the QSR and generally don't affect traffic levels, results may vary. This has paid off as my most recent post has shot to top spot on Google page one in a matter of 24 hours.

But what I want to know is, what will happen if I go back and do this on all my old posts. Will Google penalize me or will it affect my sitemap in any way. Does anyone know????

You are on to my secret! Well, actually I did make a video here at WA on this subject:) I began writing my product reviews but using "what is" followed by product name and it's working very well for me:)

How do you feel about going over old posts and renaming them and adding the new keywords?

I don't like the idea of changing post titles since they are probably already indexed and part of your sitemap. You can remove the old url from your sitemap but I don't know how to do that exactly.
You can rewrite the post title in the Meta title section of your SEO plugin without effecting your permalink.

Almost positive you can change the title of the post "until the cows come home" if you want - but not the PERMALINK (that would change the url, and that would not be good).

It is logical that adding words changes your ranking, you are making a long tail key-phrase. But traffic cannot remain the same, this is also logical to conclude.
As for how google sees this, it is certainly not cheating as suggested in one of the replies. You will have to have another permalink. In other words you start from the beginning. See this tutorial:

What if I did it over a gradual period of time, possibly renaming and changing keywords on one or two posts per week. I have some posts that could do with a huge boost up.

Hello jason,

in this training during the question segment, it is not reccommended to change it. it appears like you are cheating. Anthony
