Hi
I have just checked my Review I posted yesterday and it is now featuring #1 in Google search if I use the exact keyword phrase in quotes. I believe however that people generally do not search with quotes - is this a fair assumption? For the record, the phrase showed as follows in the WA Keywords Tool:

Searches = 252, Traffic = 43, Competition = 3, Article Power 8.6

However, when I remove the quotes I could not even be found in the top 10 pages.

Is this normal? How will my page improve with a search - exact keyword phrase but with quotes? What else can I / should I do to get it up the pages for the search without quotes?

Or is my understanding flawed and our keywords are designed to work when people search with quotes?

Sorry - a lot of questions but so much to learn.

Thanks

Richard

Who ever really knows about ranking. Sometimes I do use quotes when looking for something specific. When I don't find it, I broaden by removing quotes. Maybe I'm in a small percent of people that do that.

Searching in quotes means the following
Send me all the results that have this keyword phrase in the title
No one searched in quotes so the real search is without quotes
With quotes is just a way of finding out which sites have the keyword in the title its not equivalent of the natural search results which are different from the search in quotes
Search in quotes is just for research purposes

Thanks Barry. I kind of understand the difference technically but I am trying to get a feel for the purpose then of having a good keyword as a theme for our post if it actually doesn't then use it to rank it - or is it the fact that because the site is only 2-3 weeks old, the ranking is being limited due to its newness etc.

the quote marks are just specific to the exact words, however not everyone will use those exact words so it is a question of how its filtered and what people type in for search purposes, just keep going adding content

After one of Kyle's tutorials, I do not remember which one, I scouted using various phrases from my pages and post and was quite surprised to find them ranking where I never expected them to rank. So they may be ranking on pages you just are unaware of yet!

Hi
Thanks for responding. So - are you suggesting that some words that are not even in my keyword phrase may actually rank higher than the keyword phrase or words within the keyword phrase?
Hope this makes sense.

The phrases I tracked down were of course subject related but for some reason they were chosen by Google to be ranked rather then the specific keyword phrase I had selected using Jaaxy

Yes, I've noticed this. Google has used a lot of words and phrases on my site and some of my actual keywords are no where to be seen!

Quotes will always put you in number 1 spot. People that search for something does not use quotes. Use our keywords to find your site

Thanks for the response. My keywords is a phrase. Are you suggesting that using some of the words within the phrase may return good results and some not? And that some key word combinations within the phrase or even some words within the post may actually rank better than if I just type in the exact keyword phrase?

An obvious question then - why use keywords if Google seems to do its own thing anyway?

Just trying to understand this thing better.

Thanks

Each keyword can be ranked differently it is according how many people are typing in that word in the search engine. here is avideo that might help you a little more.
