I've verified my site via google analytics many months ago and haven't changed any settings. I haven't changed any settings but suddenly it's not verified.
It's saying:
"he Google Analytics tracking code on your site is in the wrong location. You can verify site ownership with the asynchronous snippet placed in the section of your home page"
and at the bottom it says:
You must be using the asynchronous tracking code .
Your tracking code should be in the section of your page.
You must have the "edit" permission for the Analytics web property.
I don't understand how to do these things, what should I do?

Same thing happened to me.. what it looks like happened was I used Google Analytics to verify my site, and now it doesnt seem as though Google uses that any more as a verification metric...
so i got the code from Webmaster tools and punched it into the general settings of the All In One plugin and I was good to go.
Annoying, especially with no warning...

In a desperation attempt I thought I'd try deleting my website from webmasters tool and adding it back. This was before I read Josh From Oz's solution. Now I realize it had deleted all my google analytics data for the past year!! Or did I? do you know? When I go to google analytics it only shows data from today. My site is 1 year old so I have a lot of data, they're all gone.

You were right, it was the google analytics code indeed. Under "property" in google analytics I accidentally changed the selection, each selection had a different code, but I changed it back now and it's showing everything. So thank you sir, I got all my data back.

just a thought but this happened to me as well and as I recall it was due to the SSL changeover. I.e. the change WA did to update our sites from HTTP to the more secure HTTPS.
Google Webmaster Tools treats HTTP and HTTPS as separate sites, so you have to add your site and verify it again with the HTTPS version.
This may not help or be what's happened in your case, but thought Id add it in case!

This happened to me a few days ago for no reason at all. For about half of my sites. Have you tried clicking the 'verify now' button on that page?. That worked for me.

I clicked "verify this property" and it says "Verification failed for mysite.com using the Google Analytics method (1 minute ago)."

One other thing I did for one site was to copy and paste the analytics code into the All in on SEO plugin section and hit update. (the code was still the same... but I thought worth a try) Then it worked after that. But the other sites all I had to do was hit the verify button on webmaster tools.

oh thanks, it worked, its verified again now. but I have another problem. A few minutes ago in an attempt to verify my webmaster tool, I tried deleting the property and adding it back in, and all my google analytics data got deleted or something. Now added the property back and verified it, the analytics data is still missing! is it deleted for good or can I get it back?
