I asked this question of Kyle and was referred here.
After having hit Page 1 numerous times now, I haven't received any clicks. Not one. I have spoken with Site Support and fixed one issue. Now they inform me all is in order and still no clicks. I am considering starting a new website (after 6 months), because I believe something is radically wrong and don't know what else I can do. Google has advised me on several occasion that I am not getting hits and are unable to help.
I am now wondering if my site name Hello To Happier Days is somehow toxic. Cant' see why but looking at every possible problem.
I am running a Facebook Ads Campaign and gleaned 800 odd clicks which suggests all is well.
Please help me find a solution. Thank you for your time.
Cheers AJ (Jill)

Hi Jill,

I can understand your frustration and I think some of it may come from a misunderstanding of how Google works.

Yes, you might be on Page 1 for the specific keyword that you've targeted BUT that will only result in clicks to your website if sufficient people search for that keyword and then click on your link.

Have you set up Google Search Console? It enables you to see how many times people have seen your website link and how many people have clicked on it.

In the screenshot I've shown below for one of my sites, you can see that although 2,700 people saw the link to my site, only 28 people clicked on it, resulting in a click-through-rate (CTR) of 1.3%.

As you can also see, my average position is only 55 - which means my links are all the way down on the 6th page of search results!

Try experimenting with different keywords for your future articles.

Hi Kettei, I get it now! What confuses me is the training tells us to find keywords with 100+ traffic and 90+ relevance. I have been using only keywords that are 90-98 which of course, all come up with "great". If so few people search for these what do I need to change? Select keywords that have 1000 traffic and 80-90 relevance? I know this will mean more competition but I have to get traffic to have any chancre of conversions.

Thank you for explaining the Google process so clearly. Truly I was going nuts!!! So grateful.

Cheers AJ

It might not be the keywords (although it's awesome that you understand how they work - and I strongly recommend Search Console as you try to figure out what's going on).

If you're carefully picking keywords that have searches and low competition but you're not seeing much traffic, it may be that Google isn't ranking your content for another reason.
I wouldn't recommend chasing high-competition keywords just yet but I'm certainly no keyword guru. I only just got it straight in my head!

I took the liberty of running your site through Google's PageSpeed Insights tool and you have a very low score for mobile (22/100) and an average score for desktop (75/100).
https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/

Google is placing quite a lot of emphasis on mobile support recently and it's possible that your low page speed may be to blame. I'm afraid page speed is a pain to sort out - I had to ditch quite a few of my favorite plugins and install an optimization plugin to help and I still haven't got my mobile speed above 80.

Are you posting to social media (e.g. Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook) when you create a new article? I've found I'm getting quite a bit of traffic that way as I'm waiting for my organic traffic to increase.

Sorry, I don't have an easy answer for you. :(

Hi Jill
I just had a look at your site and it's great however all your posts are on the same page I think and it would be great if maybe you worked on your menu with some drop downs etc.
Here is a good training on how to do this to make look smarter and easier to navigate

This will help a lot as I struggled to keep engaged because I couldn't see where the posts ended and started
Here is the link and I hope this helps my dancing friend :) Now go foxtrot gf :)

Dear Vicki "Two Dancing Shoes", Done and Dusted (one more thing to clean up) and I will have brought it home! I absolutely love Marion Black's training. She makes things "happen" so easily for me. She's a wizard!

Please look once more at my site and you will see the top navigation with drop downs and my new photo.

The only problem left is how do I get rid of all my posts that are duplicated on the front page of my site. I also still have "Recent Posts" (which I need, Comments on posts (do I need?) and Archives (do I need?).

My guess is I now need a static front page???? How do I post to a static page??? Could you please point me to training to do whatever it is I need to do.

Also, having set up all my posts under the Home page, when next I do a new post, will it automatically publish to Home and Recent Posts?

Woman, what would I do without you?? Lol

Kettei has beautifully explained why I am not getting clicks! So relieved.

Let's Twist again, like we did last summer!! Cheers AJ

Hi - at a quick glance, the first thing I notice is that you have no way to navigate the site. Obviously, you have lots of posts, but all we can see is the latest six on your "Recent Posts" sidebar menu. How would a visitor know that there is lots more to read? You need to categorise your posts and add a menu.

The huge blurry photo as your header image is not appealing. Perhaps you could also change your tagline. What exactly does "Your Safe Haven" say to visitors? Perhaps you could change it to something more explanatory as to what your website is about.

Thank you and WOW! I knew the navigation needed attention and my Dancing Partner Vicki has given me the training. On it.
Yes, I knew about the photo as well, my hubby has been telling me for a while to change it. Have so much on my plate but it now has priority!!!! Join taken with "Your Safe Haven". Will attend that too. Thank you for your time.

Hi Diane, Photo and Navigation almost nailed! One last bit to conquer. Waiting for training. Still to attend the tag, Your Safe Haven. Off to do that now. With the help from such beautiful people as you, Vicki and Kettei I'm able to confidently eat the elephant one bite at a time!! (Even got a new denture to facilitate my eating more rapidly!!!). LOL

Cheers and my gratitude Lol. AJ
