It used to be a good source of backlinks until Google changed its rules. I hear people saying links from forums via a signature still helps, while others caution us not to..

As a person starting out and in need of more traffic while waiting for Google ranking, can we still participate in forums and have people coming to our sites via a forum signature?

To the SEO experts here, I'd like to ask if doing so will harm our site's ranking in the long run?

What if the forum I am linking from are related to my niche? Like for example, a link to a "make money online" site from a Internet marketing forum (Warrior Forum).

Anyone?

Be really wary of those types of forums. There are so many black hatters participating in those that you don't want Google to think you live in the same neighborhood, so to speak.

I wouldn't due to the headaches with Warrior Forum. I would not worry so much about back links, I would promote on social media and drive traffic.

Backlinking when not done correctly can cause headaches to your site. The training here says that there is no need to backlink.

Allow your links to grow naturally over time.

With that said, a backlink from the forum will probably not have have a detrimental effect since warrior plus is a legit forum. Just full of spammers.

Thanks. Okay, noted. No detrimental effects. But likely not get enough good customers, as most of the people in there are either spammers, or feeling better than us as far as Internet marketing is concern.

Forums are a way to gain extra traffic that is for sure. You can use them to target your niche audience and gain buyer ready traffic which is more important.

I still have to add this to my traffic gains going forwards myself. I did start the process but lost momentum with other things to attend to.

I would just be cautious of where you get traffic from though Warrior Forum can be very spammy with sellers selling loads of products that have little or no value.

I have wasted money there before.

Thanks. Me too, I have joined several programs via that site, bought a lot of shiny objects from sellers, and wasted a lot of time. But the fact that we have experienced something like that in there, maybe there are a lot of others there experiencing what we've experienced right now. So, if we can offer a better solution, then we'd be doing them a great service. Isn't it?
