If you didn't know, referral spam traffic is basically bots that go on your site and they all have 100% bounce rates, so it messes up your data and lowers your ranking on Google.

I only found out about this today, so I looked for ways to block this spam referral traffic. All the training I've found are very technical with coding stuff and I cannot understand it.

I'm just wondering if anyone else notice a lot of referral spam traffic on their sites and how important is it to do anything about it?

I assume since it wasn't in the WA training it must not be that important, but bots jacking up your bounce rate doesn't seem like something that you should ignore. Or is it fine to ignore it? I mean does it negatively impact your website that much?

I think the best person to ask is PjGermain, he has a bunch of training on the subject, check here and the comments:

Hey Kent,

If you feel that a website that is giving your backlinks is too low a ranking site, you could disavow their link(s). Here's how: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/2648487?hl=en

Hope you find this helpful.
