The reason I'm asking this is that I saw training here how to block a country through analytics. I am recently getting allot of traffic from Russia, my site is new with only 2 posts, it shouldnt even be ranking. But does any genuine traffic come from Russia, I have a travel site and I don't want to turn away genuine traffic.

They are not going to hack your website, but there are "bots" out there that perform various tasks and navigate the web. Some of it could be from that, but I definitely would not be too concerned about hacking as we are protecting you from our end through many security precautions within our hosting/website platform.

Good to know Kyle I was wondering about that myself. I am also getting a lot of traffic from moscow. I'm not real worried about it though. My traffic is going up and they aren't the only reason.Besides they are no longer an iron curtain country. Maybe they just can't catch a break over there and are looking for something better. Paypal is over there too right?

Theres actually allot of weird stuff going on over there, my wife is from a neighbouring country and she reads onto their news and stuff, its still quite a dictatorship there. I checked my bounce rate and these Russians are actually not staying on my page morethan a second so they are no good, they are just bringing up the bounce rate, which aint a good thing I think

You can check and see how long they are staying on your site in Analytics. Mine were 0 so not genuine visitors and putting the bounce rate up. You can block specific regions following the same method depening on what Analytics tells you

I want to follow this convo just to see what others advise. Haven't had this "problem" yet, but it's a topic well worth being in the know on.

There are hackers in all countries throughout the world. Some "appear" to have more publicity and perhaps they may have more hackers, but believe me, we are loaded right here in the US and they can quite easily use a virtual server in Russia or other country to infect the good working people throughout the world. Hacking is apparently a "fun challenge" for the "Sick Mind"!!! No different then bullying just a different format.

There are some honest hard working people in Russia and I used to work with a couple of decent people. I knew some poor guy trying to build himself a business and he was from Ukraine, it made his job 200% harder simply because of his location. We shouldn't stereotype a country just because of the minority there. Besides have you seen the crazy Russian hacker on YouTube he's so sweet lol
