Hey everyone, there seems to be two schools of thought on Search Engine Optimization.

On one hand, I know some folks who always do SEO on everything.
On the other hand, I know some folks who only write for people and not search engines.

I think its easier and better to write for people, because after all that is a person on the other side that might be needing your help.

Example: This content your reading here, there's no SEO done by me.

Having said all that, I do have content I do On/Off page SEO.

So whats your take on the subject of SEO?
1. Should we always be writing for Search Engines?
2. Should we never write for Search Engines?
3. Is there a middle ground as I see it?

Look forward to your replies and thanks for your answers.

Talk to you soon,

Markus

It will all really come down to your site and how you plan to get traffic. If Google and Bing are you big targets, SEO is king. If you do other campaigns to get readers, it will come down to how you write for the target audience, whatever you write will get read, by who is the biggest question and how.

SEO is the best for getting free traffic.

The irony of this whole topic is that SEO is geared for people, not search engines in my opinion. The only thing we really do is target a keyword, but other than that, what do we write? We write content to get people hooked, and Google looks at what people do on your site as a parameter on how they look at your SEO, so when you write for people, you also write for search engines.

Long time no see, how the heck are you?

I agree as I have a guitar site and looking at the stats there were many keywords I never intended to rank for.

I still use a target keyword sometimes but tend to write to hook the people as you say.

Yeah nothing hooks them better than your own personal experience Mark, it will help and the other terms you rank for is common because of LSI that Google uses.

Its great to hear from you as well, I'm doing great :)

I find it really hard to write for search engines and end up feeling like my content is contrived....so I tend to write far more for people....having said that I still want to maximise revenue which means I can't do it as much as I would like.

I'm pretty much the same way these days. I do it on some things and it takes so long for me to get it to sound natural. I do know of some product creators that have small lists (9-11k) who almost never write for SEO. But I'm sure for a new product their sales pages are optimized.

I don't think I would never do it, but it is much easier to write to people.

SEO is a Must Have
Example: you say you haven't used SEO for this blog

About 4,160,000 results (1.03 seconds)
No results found for "I use seo, but should you always write for search engines?"

Proof of the pudding wouldn't you say?

I wasn't putting you down in any way Mark, but I publish blogs within WA every week and I usually end up on the 1st page of search engines and usually in the top 5 and that's what to aim for.

For phrases that people actually search for though?

It's easy to rank for "The Best Super Duper Widgets in Mexico" (google that next week, this post will be ranking on page 1 for that)

But if you want to rank for something getting actual search volume, it's a bit more work than just mentioning the keyword a few times :)

Jeff I publish my blogs to help WA members.
The Title, Headline and Keywords of my blogs are to attract those members who are typing them into their search box at the top of their WA pages.

Of course its a bonus to get ranked on the first page of SERPs.
Thank you for your input and enjoy your Monday and the rest of the week.
