How do you add H1 tags to your pages?

Hi, Ntlhane, depends which editor you are using, visual or text. Visual editor is a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get). If you want more control of how your H1-H6 page and post heading appear you should use the text editor.

For you H1 page and post header you would need to add some HTML code similar to the following:

<h1 style="font-family: arial; font-size: 20px; color: #000000;
margin-top: 00px; margin-bottom: 00px;">Your Header Text</h1>

Obviously, you would need to change the attributes: font-family, font-size, etc, as required. The problem with HTML is, every time you add a new page or post, you have to insert the complete HTML. How do you avoid having to do that? CSS.

On you dashboard click on Appearance>Customize>Additional CSS and add the HTML code as CSS:

h1 {
font-family: arial;
font-size: 20px;
color: #000000;
margin-top: 00px;
margin-bottom:00px;
}

Now in your new page or post you only need to add the following:

<h1>Your Header Text</h1>

This will standardize your H1 headers throughout your website. Hope this helps and best wishes. If I can help any further, give me a shout.

H1 tag is just a complicated way of describing your main title format. If you ever used Word or a similar text editor, H1 is the main title heading: Heading1.
In web pages, it's just the same, you write your title and give it the tag of H1 = you format it with Heading1.
Looks like something like this in html: <h1>main title</h1>.

In Wordpress editor it's quite easy as you have in block editor the "Add Title" already formatted for H1 tag. You just need to write down your title and it's done. If you want to add more, you just choose "heading" block and use H1. Someone said that Bing doesn't like it so you should have that in mind.

So, adding H1 tag is the same as formatting your main title with Heading1. This is exactly the same for other subtitle formats: h2, h3, etc. where the number gives you the subtitle level: h2 are like chapters, h3 subchapters, and so on.

I hope this helps!

with wordpress your title is taken as your h1...
google doesn't mind if you have more than one h1 but bing....that one gets upset...
but as the others say it is hte same as adding other headlines, just choose the h1...
have fun
