How do I block a bot?

HI

I have had a huge spike in traffic thaks to a bot. Does anyone know how to a) block bots and b) exclude it in Google analytics.

The bot blocker doesn't come up on my AIOSEO. I guess it's a pro feature.

Interesting, I only use AIO SEO on some of my test sites, as I use Rank Math on my live sites, so I hadn't noticed that this had been removed. I'll need to do some further digging to find out why/where it's gone etc.

However, you might find these plugins useful in the meantime.

Go to your Admin settings. Under the View panel, you’ll find View Settings. Toward the bottom of the options, just before Site Search Settings, you’ll find a small heading for Bot Filtering with a checkbox that reads: Exclude all hits from known bots and spiders. Check it, and you’ll automatically filter the known bots and spiders from your Analytics collecting.

That box was already ticked but site search settings was off so I have changed it to on. Hopefully that will sort it going forward.

Thanks Dale and Jean(for the question). I didn't know this was possible. I'll try it today. I actually had what I believed was a bot a while ago so I'll institute this on my site.
