I would like to ask if I can edit the article that I already published and it's already indexed in google and change the title of that article in case I have found a suitable heading title that can suit the same article and has far less competition than the current title

Yes you can, but keep the keyword, because the keyword is the key for ranking.
I did that to article that is already on the first page in google. I edited the title and the big part of the article. I didn't touch the keywords. And the article is still there on the first page :)
Like Camillamo said, a better title can give you a higher CTR. So after you rank on the first page you need a good title to keep you there.

The title alone will not change where and how a article ranks. If the keyword is different write a different article focusing on that search term and curate or link to the original post as a resource or related post. You will be glad you did.
