Are we competing with youtube videos on google?

when i find a keyword i always search it in google in quotation marks and with out. some times youtube videos will come up on the search results when searching in quotes. am i competing with these videos or is it just the articles?

You need consider all the elements. It is ALL content.

I would write my articles and include relevant YouTube videos.

Yes if you can, however you may other people's videos if they allow embed - however you cannot edit them.

Depending on what I am searching for, I usually skip the videos and go to the articles. But that's just me.

When using Jaaxy it shows keywords per articles not youtube.

Doing a browser search brings up everything.so from that perspective searchers can choose Youtube over posts. So in that sense you are competing with them.

I know that if I search a topic and both a website and YouTube video popup, I will watch YouTube first.
