Hello WA friends!

I'm still having trouble with Alt text description. I surfed on WA and got contradictive answers. One stated that it is important to ALWAYS use your keywords such "how to loose weight fast" (the image was a weight balance) but another (found in training) says NOT to use keywords unless the image really is about your keyword.

Also, I read that the text appears when someone hovers with the cursor over the image. I have seen that this morning on a website but on my website, the alt text doesn't appear in any of my images?

I have added my keyword title in ALT text for all my images on my most recent posts. I don't know if that's right? Some images don't directly reflect the keyword. Example: I used an image with a cat stretching and yawning for a post about how to deal with stress. I thought that was cute and funny. But in my alt text, I don't mention the cat. I just wrote my my title keywords?

Thank you for your support! :)

Hi AC, it looks like Diane already answered my question, but I'll add my own two cents. Alt text is a great place to add keywords that aren't grammatically correct or you just can't find the right spot in your text.

I work in the SEO business and we always drop keywords in there. The hovering words is another function altogether that can be added through plugins or other means. Unfortunately, I got spoiled at work and I had IT build something.

Hovering text is useful when you want to explain something a little more or you want to identify a link a little more clearly.

All the best,
Jim

Very helpful. Should I add some of my permalink title keywords to all of them even if it doesn't fit with my title directly? Thank you!

ex: I wrote a post on "French people are thin" but one of my pictures is a bottle of olive oil because I mention the Mediterranean diet. I had added my permalink title in the Alt text? I removed it and just wrote: bottle of extra-virgin olive oil. Is that right? Thanks for taking the time to answer.

Hi - yes, but you can actually have between 5 and 15 words as your alt text, so you could add to it if there is a natural way of inserting your keyword as well.

Good morning,

I dont know if this helps or not, but I dont use keywords in my alt text. Not all photos directly relate to my keyword.

Perhaps key words are only used in photos that DO relate!
