I will add a screenshot of what I mean in a reply to this post.

When I have added a gallery of for example 3 pictures with the block editor, I can't seem to find a way to add an alt tag to those pictures straight away.

I think I would have to go look for that picture in the media gallery, and ad the tag there, but that can be a drag if I have a lot of pictures to go through.

Is there any way I can go add it straight away in the block editor?

A second question on the pictures: do you add an alt tag to each and every picture on your site, or mainly the 'main' picture and a few? Because some blogposts are very rich in pictures on my site.

Thanks!

Hi Lizzy

Try this...

In block editor click the image.
Then if you have no right column click the gear icon.
In the right column click Block (there are 2 columns, Post and Block).
Scroll down the Block column and you'll find a box for updating the Alt tag.
Scroll down further for Advanced ... where you will find a Title field and others.
I hope this helps.

Thanks! Yes , that works for 1 picture, but not when there is a gallery of pictures (like in my screenshot). Maybe they are still working on that, I hope ;-)
Have a good day,

Yes yes , I know how to add it in the media library, but I have so many pictures that looking for the one picture where that I want to add to, will take forever to look for it. Thanks anyway:-)

Seeing your blog post, I will from now on first upload pics in the media library with the alt tag and then put them in my posts, thanks!

Hi
For every image that you put on your site, you need to write the alt tag
I find adding alt tag and photos in block editor really difficult so I do it in site content and then punish to my website

I know right, about adding it in Block editor? I can't seem to find it anywhere, I looked and looked. What do you mean in site content, should I switch back for a moment to the classic editor? thanks!

No
Site content in WA
You've never written there before
Click on website on your dashboard and then scroll to site content

You can write there and also insert your images and write alt tag for them before publishing to your website.

I see, I did in the beginning, but it is easier for me now to use reusable blocks in the block editor when for example doing reviews, and so go straight to writing in wordpress. Thanks
