My Site is now 12 months old 100% site trust and has 70 posts and pages on it.

I know that is not a lot for 12 months but its over 3 times my other site (Mothballed) and that gets plenty of traffic, and even sales, although minimal as It really need tons of work as I said it's mothballed.

But my main site is performing appallingly. I get between 5-10 clicks a day, and that's on a good day it can be 1-2 click. Obviously I will never make money with that sort of performance.

Obviously I have followed all Keyword training and targeted very very low hanging fruit. often below 10 QSR ( should be guaranteed PG1 right?) But my ranking are appalling. very few of my posts rank top 10, and even those that do are fluctuating in and out daily.

There just seems no rhyme or reason to any of it. Every few days google seems to like me my ranks go up and traffic begins, then it changes it's mind ranks go and the traffics gone.

I have been patiently waiting for this Google "inauguration" period to pass. In training we are told 3 months, more realistically we can expect 6-9 months nowadays and some people have seen it take 12 months. Well I am beyond that now and still seeing no consistency in my rankings.

It has me wondering if there is something wrong and it's not just Google messing around. Is there something on my site that upset Google? I am not an SEO expert of any kind so I am at a loss as to what could be wrong.

I really expected by now for my rankings to at least be stable.

Has anyone any ideas where I could be slipping up, things to check.

I'm just at loss as to how to crack this so I can't start seeing some decent traffic.

I had a single post pull 20 clicks a day with lots of affiliate click through's but it only lasted a day before Google pulled it's ranks, so I can see how I could have excellent traffic if only google would let me in.

Starting to lose heart :(

That’s weird, are you getting at least some organic traffic?

bad days 1-2 (the days of zero are a thing of the recent past)

Normal days 5-10

Good days 20

That's organic traffic only I get more from referral and social but that always seems poor quality "bouncy" traffic.

Ok, thanks for your feedback. I'm also into the niche travel and travel photography (in French). To compare, for now i've 43 posts and i'm around 40-60 organic search a day.

Hello Stephen, I visited your site and find it interesting but somewhat broad in information and competing with information already available online for each city. Just a suggestion but you might select a target audience that would like things off the beaten track and that might interest new visitors to a city. Or what can business travellers do in their down time. It is rough finding that target audience, but once you do, then it is just a matter of time.

Hi, Harvey

My target is geared towards new visitors, at least that's the idea. I am aware a lot of it has been written about before. But with low QSR I should still be able to rank?

Perfecting target audience and such is only going to work if I rank, Any thing I write now wanders off into obscurity.

My first priority is getting a base people can visit to help learn about cities. I then have a life time to write about specific obscure things that interest certain sub niches.

Had a quick look, header pic is great. This post: https://yourusacityguide.com/what-is-the-weather-like-in-new-york-city-average-temperatures-and-conditions-throughout-the-year

Can you tell me what the keyword is for this - PM me if you like it might be easier. Steve

Hi, Steve

The keyword for that post is:

"What is the Weather Like in New York City"

src - 100 trf - 17 Qsr - 22

According to Keyword tool. it ranks at 49 with a high of 34

300 52 55 are the stats for the keyword:
What is the Weather Like in New York

100 17 22
What is the Weather Like in New York City

There is not a lot of traffic but there should be enough to get things moving.

My initial thoughts are that you do not have enough comments, I have seen a few but a lot more are needed.

I have some ideas for you but as it is 2.15 am here in Sydney Australia I need to go get some sleep.

I will PM you tomorrow (our time) in the afternoon.

I will have had some time to think by then, and I will be honest, as long as that is ok with you!

No problem mate get some sleep lol thanks for the help

As I said I have targeted REALLY low QSR regardless of traffic to get things going, I know the traffic will not be huge per post, but as I am getting poor ranks it's next to zero.

As for comments the exact number is 326 (including replies) spread amongst my posts.

Wow, look at the answers you got, far beyond what I could have said. Glad I stopped by cos now I have some homework to do.

Good luck and would be ever so interested in your comeback and success with the changes.

Hello, I am starting out myself so I can't help you with the technical reasons as to why you are not getting more traffic. But I have ideas that I can share:

1. Contact sellers that would compliment your offering and offer up a mutual affiliate agreement. This will get you more points to your website.

2. Ask WA folks to comment on your site, maybe your missing something simple and need to take step a back.

3. What's different about Mothballed that your site is lacking.

Best Wishes .. Alan

Hi Allen,

I would say My site compared to the mothballed one is superior in every way, my first site was my "practice" site if you like. My writing keyword selection and use has all improved since starting my new site.

The only two differences are competitiveness of the niche

The old site is not SSL and the New one is.

That's very disheartening. How long are your posts? How many comments do you have on them? Is your niche perhaps hard to rank for? I'm not entirely sure why your site isn't gaining rank or traffic, but there are usually reasons for it.

Perhaps I can have a look at it. Or others.

Edited the Question to included URL

My posts tend to be long, 2000-4000. My shorter <1500 posts tend to not rank at all and are never seen again.

I have around 300+ Comments on my posts and see very little correlation, my best performing post has on 2 comments where as posts with alot of comments behave with varying performance from bad to terrible.

I should have said that It is a Travel Site, so yes it is VERY competitive.
