My sad day

This morning was a very SAD day for me. By SAD, I mean I had Seasonal Affective Disorder symptoms galore. I was down, depressed, in pain, no energy, no hope and no will to do much of anything. I pretty much had most of the symptoms, including thoughts of nothing to look forward to.

In the Ozark hills in NW Arkansas, January and February are pretty much our "winter" months. Temps go from mild and warm with many awesome sunny days to grey skies and falling temps like today. All the trees are dead and brown leaves cover the ground and my deck.

California Dreaming

I was cold all day even in the house, starving for carbs and depressed with my weight, my blood sugar levels, and dealing with my wheelchair along with some other health issues I've been fighting for months - mostly incontinence caused by my degenerative discs in my back, weight and high blood sugar levels. I had a big "pity party" and crying spree after lunch that lasted for about 2-3 hours. I tried to read and watch Netflix movies but that got old also.

Then I decided to do some research on SAD, depresssion, diabetes and obesity and start writing a blog for my diabetes blog site.

I'm researching some devices to use to treat myself with "light theraphy", some weight loss products, herbal remedies for urge incontinence and more about Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) itself.

Do any of you suffer from SAD? and what are the best treatments for you? At least I've stopped crying and doing the whole "whoa is me thing" I'm going to really have to do a lot of "affirmations" to get back my positive attitude. I want to buy me a SAD light device also.

Tomorrow is a new day..hope you're feeling better.

SAD is common among many people in the winter months. I guess we all need the bright and cheery summer months to keep us going. I hope that you will get over this condition soon and be back to your normal ways. All the best to you.

Yes, Shirley, winter, especially January and February, are hard months in a climate that really has winter. It's good that you reached out here. If anything can help, a few positive comments from the "family" might help. Don't feel alone. I think we all have to cope with such feelings at times. Do those affirmations. I've suggested this in here before, but don't know if you read the post. Watch a bit of Bob Proctor's "You Were Born Rich" on YouTube. It should get you revved up a bit.

Hope all looks better tomorrow.

Thanks, I will definitely watch that on YouTube.

I wouldn't say that my wife and I have SAD'S but we do have line of those lifts you mentioned that we use on those dark cloudy mornings before we go to work. I think it works for me and my wife really likes too.

It's like having the sun shining in your face, not warm but bright.

Hello Shirley,
First of all thank you for writing this post.Clearly this will help others. It is also therapeutic for you to reach to others.Especially your WA family.

We are pleased you have stopped crying and that you know that you know we all need affirmations and positive attitude.

Many blessings are coming,
Elaine and Scarlett

I had not known about glow lights as treatments Shirley. But it does make sense, the loss of sunlight in the winter months does affect our mood. And when we are dealing with other issues the lack of sunlight just adds to our sorrows.
Hang onto your faith and do what you can to find help and healing. Will remember you in prayer.

You are not alone, I have had this for my whole life and now with the weather in Wisconsin it's hitting hard. I recently sent in my DNA to someone who can help me with my anxiety and depression in a natural way to see what my body needs. There is always an imbalance. Doctor's are not a help so don't feel alone. I work a lot and having this website is an actual therapy for me to not think about things and keep me busy. I used to tan every winter and that really helps. Good luck to you!

Hi Shirley, I'm sorry this is happening to you. You are doing the right thing by talking about it. Perhaps you can somehow use this disease to some advantage here with your sites. With all the research you will do you should be able to help others. I had never heard about SAD until you wrote about it.

I hope the coming days we will be better for you.

Take care!

Cal

oh my gosh girl. I have SAD. 3 weeks ago found out I was having a reaction to celexa. Had to stop it. I am doing incredible with the “glow” light. I use it all day. High doses of CBD. Increasing my bit D supplement and methyofolate.

I have never felt better.

Laura

Laura, I just purchased a SAD light from another WA member's website. I also use CBD myself and I'm going back to taking my viitamin D pills. Thanks

High doses of CBD. And constant use of glow light. It will work!!!

I am very sorry to hear about this Shirley. This is part of the reason I live in AZ. My wife and I used to live in the NorthWest and you will not see the sun for months. I wish you the very best. I see you mention light therapy, I know a member here who promotes them.

Pm me and maybe I'll purchase through one of his affiliate links. Thanks.

You got it.

Nice link - I did purchase through his website.
