Should you delete unused Wordpress themes? - plugins?
I am going through my WordPress websites and cleaning up - removing unused themes and plugins. Why should I do this? Well it looks better for one thing and makes things tidy and easier to find. The other thing is to reduce the file size of the site and help speed it up. It certainly makes the backup files weigh less - which is good.
Another reason to delete unused thems and plugins is to improve security on your site. You want to only used themes and plugins that are used and updated regularly for this reason.
NOTE: When deleting themes, some child thems rely on the parent themes, so don't delete them - in fact your active themes should not display a delete button. Active plugins should not allow deletion also until they are inactive.

Yes, you are very right. It's especially important to check plugins.
I have a question: I don't use my original SiteRubix, and I am sure it is okay to delete it now. Is it a good idea to do that?
I waited about 2 months after I moved my site on siterubix to a paid domain before deleting. Seems like I read something about needing to wait a while because of Google Analytics issues.
I do the same. If I am no longer using themes or plugins, I will delete them. Great point about child themes and thanks for sharing the plugin!
